Position Introduction:
The purpose of the Athletics Graduate Assistant program is to support promising individuals who are
committed to a career in intercollegiate athletics and to continuing their education at the graduate level.
The graduate assistant appointments include: a full waiver of graduate tuition (student is responsible for
paying associated fees), a bi-weekly stipend, health insurance coverage and other benefits provided to
athletics department employees (benefits vary but may include complimentary admission to athletic
events).
Graduate Assistants are required to work an average of 20 hours per week during the academic year.
Hours required may vary by assigned area. Duties will vary with area of assignment. This listing is a
rolling listing that will stay open through Summer 2026. Hiring managers will pull applicants from the

Below is a comprehensive list of each area within athletics with graduate assistant positions. However,
vacancies vary by semester.
Academics
An Assistant Academic Advisor works with student-athletes in individualized sessions on skills that are
important in developing the prepared student. The sessions also help students learn useful study
techniques and improve problem solving strategies. Assistant Advisors also teach students how to utilize
their unique learning style to maximize the time spent studying for their classes. Graduate Assistants are
assigned to an academic advisor, reporting grades and status updates to coaches and sport administrators.
Assistant Academic Advisors are provided professional development workshops to further advance their
workplace skills and knowledge of athletic advising. The assistant advising program prepares graduate
assistants for a career in academic advising and academic support services.
Communications
The OU Athletics Communication Graduate Assistant manages publicity efforts for assigned sports by
overseeing websites, social media, and written content while coordinating media relations and interviews.
Responsibilities include running and maintaining statistical records, providing live updates, and assisting
with game management tasks such as credential distribution and post-game press conferences. The role
also involves creating publications like media guides and game programs while collaborating with
marketing, event management, and SoonerVision. Additionally, the graduate assistant supports recruiting
projects and provides assistance across various sports within the department.
Event Management/Game Operations
The Event Management/Game Operations GA will assist with the planning, execution and evaluation of
all NCAA events, University events, special events and championships hosted by the University of
Oklahoma. This position will also assist with oversight of student and temporary worker staff hiring,
scheduling, and oversight. GA also assists with facility operations, game management, risk management,
and set up/tear down of all events.
Equipment
Graduate Assistants with equipment will either work with a specific sport or in the equipment room
assisting equipment managers with daily operations, practice duties, and assisting with competition set up
and breakdown.
Headington Hall
The Headington Hall Graduate Assistant Residence Director supports the development and management
of a positive living environment for student residents. Responsibilities include overseeing daily
operations, supervising resident advisors and desk clerks, and advising the Student Leadership
Association. The role also involves coordinating community development efforts, assisting with
occupancy and conduct matters, and leading recruitment and tours. As a role model and mentor, the
Residence Director plays a key part in fostering students' intellectual, emotional, and social growth.
Branding and Licensing
The OU Licensing and Branding Graduate Assistant will assist the Director of Branding and Licensing
with duties including, but not limited to, promoting and monitoring the use of OU's brand and trademarks,
overseeing the university's crafter program, managing the OU Licensing email, and assisting in the
development, implementation, and evaluation of the department's strategic licensing plan. The Branding
and Licensing GA will also analyze royalty reports and other data, assist various functions related to the
coordination of special local, community, and campus events.
Lloyd Noble Center
The Lloyd Noble Center Graduate Assistants help organize and execute athletic and special events,
including managing Sooner Village and serving as event contacts. They oversee facility operations,
coordinate logistics with various stakeholders, and assist with event setup, staffing, and scheduling.
Additional responsibilities include developing event documents, managing financial aspects of event
bookings, and supporting marketing efforts. They also handle administrative tasks, participate in planning
meetings, and work flexible hours to support the center's operations.
Nutrition Administrative Assistant
The OU Sports Nutrition Administrative GA supports the Athletics Dietitians by managing the daily
operations, logistics, and administrative functions of the Sports Nutrition program. This role oversees
fueling stations, inventory, vendors, and food service processes to ensure consistent, high-quality
nutrition support for student-athletes. The position also supervises and schedules student workers and
interns, provides onboarding and performance support, and facilitates clear communication across the
nutrition team. Additionally, the Graduate Assistant assists with special events, sport-specific fueling
needs, travel coordination, and quality-control initiatives. Through strong organization, professionalism,
and compliance oversight, this role enhances the overall athlete experience while allowing dietitians to
focus on clinical and performance priorities.
Nutrition
The OU Nutrition Graduate Assistant serves as the primary dietitian for Volleyball and Track & Field
while supporting Football, including team travel. Responsibilities include delivering nutrition education
through team talks, social media content, body composition testing, and individualized counseling for
performance and recovery. The role also involves managing fueling stations, overseeing inventory and
procurement, and coordinating travel nutrition needs such as performance menus and snack preparation.
Additionally, the graduate assistant collaborates with coaches and medical staff, supervises student
interns, and balances academic coursework while supporting the overall sports nutrition program.
People & Culture
The Athletics People & Culture Graduate Assistant supports the Assistant Director of People Experience
by assisting in the coordination and delivery of student-athlete engagement, leadership development, and
community involvement initiatives. This role helps facilitate programs such as orientation activities,
leadership institute events, networking opportunities, and social or civic engagement efforts for StudentAthletes. Additionally, the graduate assistant contributes to department-wide People & Culture efforts by
helping plan and execute staff engagement events, onboarding activities, and culture-building programs.
Serving as a connector across campus partners, athletics staff, and student-athlete groups, the GA plays an
important role in fostering a positive, supportive, and development-focused environment for both
Student-Athletes and department staff.
Sooner Club
The Sooner Club Graduate Assistant supports membership engagement by handling communications,
troubleshooting, and donor services for Sooner Club and Varsity O members. Responsibilities include
managing development processes such as failed payments, monthly memberships, and donation
processing while also assisting with ticket requests and donor account management. The role involves
coordinating and supporting game day and special events, including tailgates, premium hospitality, and
letterwinner reunions. Additionally, the graduate assistant assists with fundraising efforts, office
operations, and research projects to support advancement initiatives.
Special Events
The Special Events Graduate Assistant is responsible for planning and executing special events, including
scheduling staffing and operational plans, managing on-site operations, and overseeing event setup and
teardown. Duties include coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, supervising labor and
equipment vendors, and managing contracts to ensure smooth event delivery. The role also involves
handling event-related inquiries, supporting internal athletic events, conferences, and NCAA post-season
activities, and overseeing temporary staff for guest services and special events. Additional responsibilities
may be assigned as needed to support departmental operations.
Ticket Office
The OU Athletics Ticket Office Graduate Assistant supports daily operations by assisting with customer
service, ticket sales, and order management. Responsibilities include preparing for and managing game
day ticketing operations, resolving ticket issues, and overseeing complimentary ticket fulfillment. The
role also involves scheduling student workers, coordinating event ticketing logistics, and serving as the
primary ticket manager for an assigned Olympic sport. Additionally, the graduate assistant helps ensure a
smooth and efficient ticketing experience for fans, donors, and Student-Athletes.
Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree.
• Must be current or incoming OU Graduate Student and enrolled in the SUMMER and/or FALL 2026 semester(s).
