Job DescriptionOverview

We are currently seeking aa dynamic, and growth focused Senior Geotechnical Specialist to join the Geotechnical Practice, providing technical and operational leadership, having superior technical and mentorship skills and a proven ability to deliver major assignments. Our current workload includes a portfolio of diverse projects across a wide spectrum of sectors, principally rail infrastructure, highways, along with Energy, Water & Environment, Urban development. You will be expected to help deliver technical leadership and growth to a world class and fully integrated team. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in geotechnical engineering from planning and design, with a strong focus on major and alternative project delivery.

Your role
  • Lead geotechnical design for transportation and energy projects (e.g., foundations, retaining structures, excavations, slopes, tunnels), ensuring rigorous analysis, quality, and constructability.

  • Direct and perform advanced numerical modelling (soil/rock and soil-structure interaction) to optimize and de-risk designs on complex assignments.

  • Manage multi-disciplinary projects-scope, schedule, budget, risk, and change-while coordinating inputs across investigation, design, and delivery.

  • Plan and oversee geotechnical site investigations and data interpretation; translate findings into pragmatic design parameters and recommendations.

  • Serve as a technical reference and QA reviewer, ensuring high standards across deliverables and technical documentation.

  • Mentor and train junior and intermediate engineers, fostering technical growth and supporting career development within the geotechnical team.

  • Lead client engagement, present technical solutions, and support/lead proposals for major and alternative delivery projects (e.g., design-build, P3); apply relevant Canadian/Ontario design standards and guidelines in geotechnical contexts.

About you
  • P.Eng. (Ontario) with 15+ years of geotechnical engineering experience (20+ an asset) and a strong track record delivering complex projects in consulting.

  • Graduate degree (M.Sc. or higher) in Geotechnical Engineering (civil engineering with a geotechnical focus).

  • Proven geotechnical design expertise across deep/shallow foundations, retaining walls, slopes/embankments, tunnels/excavations, and ground improvement.

  • Advanced proficiency with geotechnical numerical modelling (soil and rock mechanics, soil-structure interaction) and use of modern analysis software.

  • Strong project management capability (planning, resourcing, budgeting, risk management) and effective client liaison in a fast-moving consultancy environment.

  • Demonstrated application of design standards and guidelines in investigation and design; OPG/MTO/highway and rail experience is a strong asset.

  • Passion for mentoring and developing junior staff; committed to knowledge sharing, technical coaching, and fostering a collaborative learning environment.

Additional information

Expected compensation for this role is between $125,000 - $171,900 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
