Job Description: 

L3Harris Space and Airborne Systems is seeking an Embedded Software Integration Engineer for our Wilmington, MA location to join a team of experts developing Embedded Flight Software for space-based imaging payloads.

Responsibilities include designing, developing, and implementing algorithms, controls, and subsystems for aerospace applications. The role involves the complete software lifecycle from development to testing to operation during missions. This is a hands-on role where you'll leverage Hardware in the Loop (HIL) and Software in the Loop (SIL) methodologies to ensure robust, high-fidelity testing of complex aerospace systems.

Essential Functions: 

  • Work with high performing teams building embedded software & EGSE solutions
  • Provide technical leadership through refining requirements, creating user stories, and driving collaborative designs in an Agile environment
  • Develop and integrate software for aerospace subsystems using HIL/SIL environments
  • Architect and implement automated infrastructure for space payloads
  • Design and execute test plans, procedures, and reports ensuring full traceability
  • Configure/document multi device hardware/software systems under test
  • Work hands on with flight hardware, EGSE, and imaging technologies
  • Utilize tools such as COSMOS, Ruby, LabVIEW, TestStand, MATLAB, Simulink, and DevOps platforms (Jira, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Confluence)
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance

 

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 4+ years of relevant experience; OR Graduate Degree with 2+ years of relevant experience; OR 8+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Professional experience in embedded systems integration & test (software/hardware)
  • 2+ years experience working with C/C++, Python, Linux, RTOS
  • Professional hands-on experience with HIL/SIL
  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment

 

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Active Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance preferred
  • Space payload I&T and ground equipment development
  • Space vehicle development/integration experience
  • Familiarity with lasers, image processors, visible/IR cameras, servo motors, actuators, focus mechanisms
  • Knowledge of the space domain and mission applications
  • Experience in Command & Control Software, Sensor Processing Systems, and Optical Systems/telescopes.
  • Experience in estimating large software programs for new business opportunities.
  • Proficiency in release engineering, change and configuration management, and continuous integration.
  • Experience in developing software for microcontrollers with interfaces (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, CAN).
  • Working knowledge of image processors, visible cameras, IR detectors, servo motors, actuators and focus mechanisms.
  • Familiarity with Cyber compliance tools (e.g., Fortify Workbench, SonarQube).

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $97,000.00 - $180,000.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
