What is the opportunity?

What will you do?

  • Design and implement projects to monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of investigations conducted by the Financial Crimes team.
  • Analyze and summarize the results of these projects to a broad audience for awareness and actioning.
  • Utilize programs such a Power BI to gather and organize results for trend analysis and targeted commentary.
  • Support the Quality Assurance group in executing process strategies against large datasets using python language.
  • Constantly seek out better ways to do things, new tools, new technologies, new processes
  • Work as part of an agile team responsible for end-to-end delivery of business needs
  • Use business domain knowledge to independently lead the analytics process to identify valuable and innovative insights
  • Promote analytics across the enterprise to enable RBC to become a data-driven organization

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Currently enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus on data science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, machine learning.
  • Programming skills in one or more languages (particularly Python)
  • Ability to data extract, transform, and load processes with a variety of data types
  • Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to perform complex data analysis on large volumes of data and present findings to stakeholders
  • Strong MS Office skills - Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint

Nice-to-have

  • Knowledge of design, development, and implementation utilizing current analytics technologies and architecture, as well as data warehouse concepts and methodologies
  • Ability to learn and absorb new concepts (in business and in systems) quickly and apply new knowledge

Please note:This posting is for a 4-months Winter 2027 Student placement with a start date of January 2027, and end date of April 2027. In order to be eligible for this 4-months Student position, you must either:

  • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date of April 2027 ; or
  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating in April 2027), you must require the full 4-months work term as a mandatory component to in order to graduate successfully.
