Our Raleigh, NC office is home to over 200 design professionals, including a highly specialized MEPS Healthcare Group that excels in master-planning and design services for major healthcare clients across North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina. Our extensive portfolio includes high-stakes projects such as major trauma centers, oncology facilities, ambulatory care centers, central plants, and medical school facilities. Our healthcare group is comprised of subject matter experts who actively contribute to and present at ASHE conferences, and we proudly serve many of the largest hospital systems in the region. Beyond healthcare, our Raleigh office also features dedicated MEPS design teams focused on higher education, K-12 schools, infrastructure, and more.
As our project backlog continues to grow, we are seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer to join our Healthcare Mechanical Department in Raleigh, NC.
In this pivotal role, you will provide essential technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers while collaborating closely with Project and Client Managers to ensure client expectations and budgetary goals are met. You will work alongside a diverse team of engineers on a wide range of healthcare projects, partnering with architectural, electrical, structural, and other disciplines to deliver comprehensive, innovative solutions to our local and regional clients. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring that all mechanical requirements are met, enabling us to fulfill our commitments with excellence. You will report directly to the Mechanical Department/Discipline Manager of the MEPS Healthcare Group.
Key Required Skills:
  • Accomplished professional mechanical engineer (PE). Existing licensure in NC is preferred.
  • 10-15 years of progressive technical experience with progressive technical experience in the design of mechanical systems, on large and small, complex, healthcare projects.
  • Experience should include technical oversight of multiple projects with proven success providing technical oversight on projects that meet contract specifications and technical standards to the client on time and within budget.

Responsibilities
The Senior Mechanical Engineer would be expected to provide the following to others on the design team to effectively and successfully complete projects:
    • Technical guidance and quality oversight, including code review, of all project work involving mechanical engineering.
    • Technical training and development of staff.
    • Assist in establishing and improving standards, practices, guidelines, and specifications for the mechanical discipline area.
    • Engineer of Record.
    • Provide 'on-the-spot' advice and decisions - technical and cost estimates.
    • Coordination with all the disciplines involved, including outside consultants.
    • Technical interface with code officials and contractors.

Required Skills & Required Experience
