Job description

Overview
Have you ever wondered why higher education feels stuck? Or imagined rebuilding it from the ground up? Imagine a university where advanced artificial intelligence enhances every student's learning experience through personalized, adaptive, and real-world education.
San Francisco Bay University (SFBU), an innovative, nonprofit, WASC-accredited university located in the heart of Silicon Valley, seeks a forward-thinking and experienced Online Adjunct Professor of Finance to facilitate graduate Finance courses within our MBA Pro+ program. Working alongside AI-enabled instructional technologies, the faculty member will guide graduate students through engaging asynchronous learning experiences in FIN 501 - Financial Management and FIN 568 - Corporate Finance, providing the mentorship, coaching, and academic oversight that only expert faculty can deliver.
The MBA Pro+ program prepares current and aspiring business leaders with the financial knowledge, analytical skills, and strategic decision-making capabilities needed to thrive in today's technology-driven global economy. Finance is a cornerstone of organizational success, enabling leaders to evaluate investments, optimize capital allocation, manage financial risk, and drive sustainable growth. Students learn to analyze financial statements, assess investment opportunities, apply financial modeling techniques, evaluate business performance, develop strategic financial solutions, and leverage emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, to enhance financial analysis and decision-making. Through executive case studies, simulations, and applied consulting projects, students develop the expertise necessary to make data-informed financial decisions and create long-term organizational value.
What You Bring
We are looking for educators who are actively experimenting with new forms of assessment and innovative teaching practices in an AI-enabled learning environment. Ideal candidates have designed, tested, and refined engaging, technology-enhanced learning experiences that reflect the evolving needs of graduate business education. They understand the changing relationship between human expertise and artificial intelligence, are comfortable discussing both successful and unsuccessful instructional innovations, and are excited to contribute to a culture of continuous improvement within the MBA Pro+ program.
Responsibilities
  • Provide an engaging, supportive, and student-centered online learning experience.
  • Facilitate graduate-level Finance courses within the MBA Pro+ program using executive case studies, financial modeling exercises, simulations, and applied consulting projects.
  • Build meaningful relationships with students through mentoring, academic advising, and professional coaching.
  • Conduct 60-minute virtual student networking meetups (optional for students) twice weekly.
  • Review AI-supported formative assessment insights, exercise faculty judgment in validating student mastery, and intervene when students need additional guidance or support.
  • Integrate AI-enhanced learning tools and emerging financial technologies where appropriate to enrich the student learning experience.
  • Continuously improve course materials and AI-enhanced learning experiences to reflect current trends and best practices in finance.
  • Evaluate summative assessments and submit final grades in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with faculty and academic leadership to strengthen and advance SFBU's MBA Pro+ curriculum.
Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or D.B.A. in Finance, Financial Economics, Business Administration (Finance), Accounting, Economics, or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience teaching graduate-level online courses in Finance using a Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Expertise in one or more areas of finance, including corporate finance, financial management, investments, financial markets, portfolio management, financial analysis, risk management, financial planning, fintech, or international finance.
  • Experience incorporating generative AI and AI-enhanced pedagogy into higher education or a demonstrated interest in leveraging AI to enhance teaching, learning, and student success.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success and excellence in graduate business education.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Must reside in California.

Compensation: $7,300.80 for each 8-week course (hourly rate is $152.10)
Application Materials:
