Our Principal Software Engineer, Product Owner/CAM Engineer will work in an exciting, adaptive, and engaging environment enabling rapid learning to drive success. Our Principal Software engineers utilize a variety of skills on a regular basis including requirements analysis, synthesis of new and existing architectures, development and delivery of high-quality mission critical software.
The candidate will serve as a Subject Matter Expert for the software discipline in addition to the Product Owner and CAM for a Software Team Interacting with the Systems Engineering Team, Software Architects, Scrum Masters, and Software Engineers, supporting a large program. This position will support the shaping of the future of defense systems for the armed forces.
What You Will Do:
  • You will act as Product Owner, bridging the Software Team and the Systems Engineering Team, helping us define and manage our backlog and execution
  • You will work directly with the IPT Lead, Scrum Masters and Software Engineers performing Software-Systems work used in a Mission Critical System program
  • You will act as the CAM (Control Account Manager) for the scope related to your team, ensuring flawless execution
  • You will interact with cross-functional teams and stakeholders in a large program
  • You will have the opportunity to mentor Interns, Junior, Senior, and Principal engineers

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued secret security clearance is required prior to start date
  • Previous experience as Product Owner following Agile / SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework). Previous experience with EVMS (Earned Value Management System)
  • Previous experience as CAM (Control Account Manager)
  • Experience with DO-178 certification activities for software developments, Programming Language C, GUI Framework: A661
  • Tools: Visual Studio, Simulink, VAPSXT, VISTA, PREP, Jama, JIRA
  • Protocols: ARINC 661, ARINC 665, ARINC 653, ARINC 424

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Experience with Agile SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle)
  • Experience with Requirements Management (Decomposition, Derivation)
  • Experience as a Software-System engineer
  • Experience with UML, SysML, MBSE and CAMEO Modeling tools
  • Experience with Jira

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
