Graduate Internships information

What are graduate internships?

Graduate internships are temporary work placements designed for students who have recently completed or are nearing completion of their graduate degree, such as a master's or doctorate. These internships provide practical, hands-on experience in a professional setting related to the student's field of study. Graduate internships help individuals apply academic knowledge to real-world tasks, develop industry contacts, and improve their chances of securing a full-time job after graduation.

What is the difference between Graduate Internships vs Entry-Level Positions?

AspectGraduate InternshipsEntry-Level Positions
Required CredentialsTypically recent graduates or students; minimal experience neededUsually require some degree or relevant coursework; more experience expected
Work EnvironmentTraining-focused, mentorship opportunities, temporaryFull-time, permanent roles with defined responsibilities
Employer & Industry UsageCommon in corporate, non-profit, and government sectors for skill developmentWidely available across industries for ongoing employment

Graduate Internships are designed to provide students or recent graduates with practical experience and training, often in a temporary capacity. Entry-Level Positions are permanent roles requiring some foundational skills, offering more responsibility and career growth opportunities. Both serve as entry points but differ mainly in duration, expectations, and purpose.

What types of projects can I expect to work on during a graduate internship?

Graduate interns typically work on a variety of projects that align with both their academic background and the organization's current needs. These projects may range from conducting research and data analysis to supporting ongoing business initiatives or contributing to the development of new products or services. Interns often collaborate closely with experienced professionals, allowing them to gain practical skills, receive feedback, and build their professional network. The scope and complexity of projects can vary, but most internships are designed to provide meaningful, hands-on experience relevant to your career goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a Graduate Internship, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Graduate Internship, you typically need a relevant academic background, foundational knowledge in your field, and a strong willingness to learn. Familiarity with industry-specific tools, software, or platforms—such as Microsoft Office, project management systems, or programming languages—can be highly advantageous. Outstanding soft skills like communication, adaptability, and teamwork help interns excel and integrate quickly into professional environments. These skills and qualities are vital as they enable interns to contribute meaningfully, build professional relationships, and maximize the learning experience for future career advancement.

The Opportunity
We're looking for high-agency graduate interns who want to help us solve meaningful problems at the intersection of live events, technology, and culture. We're less interested in polished resumes and more interested in sharp thinking, strong judgment, and the ability to turn ambiguity into momentum. If you're the type who can form a point of view quickly, test it in the real world, and iterate toward impact, we want to meet you.
This is a general, open internship application. We tailor projects around the right people.
Choose a track you're most excited about
When you apply, please select one primary area of interest:
  • Biz Ops
  • Sales Strategy + Operations
  • Product Management
What you might work on
Graduate interns typically take on more ownership and ambiguous problem spaces, such as:
  • Diagnosing a business problem, framing options, and recommending a path forward
  • Designing growth experiments and analyzing results (funnels, cohorts, attribution)
  • Building operating rhythms, dashboards, or lightweight systems that scale a team
  • Leveraging AI tooling to automate workflows, create leverage, or increase quality
You might be...
  • An MBA, Master's, or graduate student (or recent grad) looking for operating experience
  • Strong at structuring problems and communicating clearly to stakeholders
  • Comfortable moving fast, collaborating cross-functionally, and shipping practical work
  • Fluent in AI tools and modern experimentation workflows
  • Based in LA (or able to be on-site some of the time)
Details
  • Part-time internship (11-12 weeks), with potential to extend
  • Location: Hybrid (HQ in Santa Monica preferred)
