Job Description
Reporting to the Director of Graduate Admissions for TTIP Professional Programs, the Assistant Director of Graduate Recruitment - PGP & SW Region will lead recruitment initiatives, evaluate admission applications, and perform related duties in support of the Master of Engineering (MEng) programs in Computer Engineering (CPE) and Computer Science & Applications (CSA). This position requires independent decision-making in the admissions process and close collaboration with university partners, including Marketing and Communications, the Graduate School, academic departments, and the Division of Enrollment Management, to implement innovative recruitment and admissions strategies.
The Assistant Director of Graduate Recruitment - PGP & SW Region will play a key role in expanding and strengthening graduate recruitment efforts through activities that include, but are not limited to:
- Promoting accelerated MEng pathways within Virginia Tech and partner institutions (Accelerated/Undergraduate-to-Graduate programs)
- Managing and advancing the "Admissions Squared" early admission initiative
- Conducting recruitment outreach through classroom visits in targeted undergraduate courses to expand awareness of TTIP professional graduate programs
- Planning and executing yield activities and events for admitted students to support enrollment conversion
- Representing programs at regional and national graduate fairs, conferences, and recruitment events, with a particular focus on the southwestern region of the United States
- Hosting in-person and virtual information sessions at Virginia Tech and partner institutions
- Expanding domestic graduate recruitment efforts throughout the southwestern region of the United States
- Executing digital recruitment strategies through social media engagement, email campaigns, and virtual outreach
- Leveraging CRM systems, including Slate, to create and manage queries, generate reports, execute communication campaigns, and track recruitment and admissions outcomes throughout the enrollment funnel
- Building relationships with alumni, industry partners, community organizations, and academic partners to enhance program visibility and recruitment outcomes
The Assistant Director of Graduate Recruitment - PGP & SW Region will utilize CRM systems and data analytics to monitor recruitment outcomes and track prospective students throughout the recruitment funnel, from initial engagement through enrollment. The position will also support broader strategy development and operational initiatives related to recruitment for professionally oriented graduate degree programs.
This position may be eligible for one day of telework per week in accordance with current university policy, which is subject to change based on institutional needs.
The position is based in Blacksburg, Virginia. Regular travel (~every six weeks) to Virginia Tech's campus in Alexandria, Virginia, as well as regional travel throughout the southwestern United States, will be required. Recruitment activities may also require occasional evening and weekend work.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree or Bachelor's plus relevant experience in academic setting, specifically in the areas of recruitment, admission, and STEM student success.
- Demonstrated data analysis skills
- Experience building data driven recruitment and admissions strategies
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience reviewing academic records and providing admissions decisions
