At Jackola Engineering & Architecture, we believe successful projects are built through strong relationships, thoughtful design, and talented people. We're looking for an experienced Civil Engineer with a Professional Engineer (PE) license to join our Vancouver team and help shape communities through a wide variety of land development and infrastructure projects.
As part of our collaborative, full-service design team, you'll work alongside engineers, surveyors, architects, planners, and designers to deliver practical, high-quality solutions for both public and private sector clients. From subdivisions and stormwater systems to water infrastructure, site grading, erosion control, and roadway improvements, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to projects that make a lasting impact on the communities we serve.
We're seeking a motivated professional who enjoys solving complex challenges, mentoring others, and working closely with clients, agencies, and project teams. If you're looking for an opportunity to grow your career while working on meaningful projects in a supportive and collaborative environment, we'd love to hear from you.
Occasional travel for site visits and client meetings may be required.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor civil design staff throughout project design and construction phases.
  • Develop practical, efficient, and constructable solutions that meet project objectives and client needs.
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to develop civil engineering concepts, plans, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Coordinate with public agencies, clients, contractors, manufacturers, vendors, and internal project teams.
  • Navigate jurisdictional requirements, permitting processes, land use applications, and stormwater management regulations.
  • Ensure civil designs meet applicable codes, regulatory standards, and Jackola's quality expectations.
  • Utilize industry software to evaluate and design grading, drainage, stormwater, water, sewer, and related civil infrastructure systems.
  • Support construction administration activities and respond to contractor questions during construction.
  • Contribute to business development efforts, including proposal preparation, project interviews, client presentations, and conceptual project budgeting.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, agency representatives, and industry partners.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in civil engineering design.
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, site development, and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Knowledge of permitting processes, land use applications, and stormwater management practices.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage priorities, exercise sound judgment, and mentor junior staff.
  • Demonstrated flexibility, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities to support long-term project and client goals.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Bluebeam, and Autodesk Civil 3D.
