Job Description
Arconic is seeking General Electrician to join our Aluminum Extrusion (AEX) business unit in Lafayette, IN.

Responsibilities
Job Duties and Responsibilities :
  • Be willing to work a fixed or rotating 24X7 work schedule (8- or 12-hour shifts). You may be required to work evenings, nights, holidays, and overtime.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary Functions of the Job
  • Install, inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical and electronic equipment and systems including recording/controlling equipment including computer peripherals.
  • Refrigeration/air-conditioning, pyrometric and combustion equipment; power generation, rectifying, and distribution systems.

Materials Used, Processed and Handled
  • All types of wire, cable, fiber optic, conduit, fittings, fasteners, and composition and insulating materials.
  • Soldering, welding, and brazing materials.
  • Solvents, cleaning materials and acids, lubricants and transformer oils, inks.
  • Natural, refrigeration, and various other gases such as nitrogen, chlorine and ether.
  • Adhesives, paint, aluminum oxide and mercury; all types of electrical and electronic equipment and parts.

Tools and Equipment Used
  • Various poser and manual hand tools common to the trade, saws, drill presses, sanders, lathes, threading machines, pipe benders, soldering, brazing, welding, and cutting equipment, mechanical taping equipment.
  • Ladders, and scaffolding, cranes, man lifts, earth angers, line trucks and industrial vehicles.
  • Wet/dry cleaning equipment.
  • Bearing pullers, vacuum pumps, coil winders, thermocouples, two-way radios, various measuring and testing equipment such as thermometers, micrometers, voltmeters, ammeters, frequency meters, pyrometers, psychrometers, gas analyzer, signal generators, oscilloscopes, vibration analyzers, ultrasonic testers, infrared equipment, and other special recording and alignment equipment.
  • Various types of safety devices; video display terminals and program units.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
  • This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730, et seq.) and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Qualified candidate must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the relevant government agency. Business demands may require employer to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
  • Candidate must have a Journeyman Certificate with experience in Industrial Electricity or equivalent experience.
  • Satisfactorily pass a comprehensive online and hands-on skills test.
  • Pass a physical examination, drug screen test and background check.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience required in installation and troubleshooting of PLC's, CNC equipment, A.C./D.C. servo systems, A.C. frequency drives, power distribution and electrohydraulic systems.
  • Capable of installing and debugging new or retrofitted automation equipment and able to modify or write PLC logic. -Or a Journeyman's card (A Department of Labor Certificate or Equal). Testing and a skills demonstration will be required. Permanent employment subject to a probation period not to exceed 6 months.
  • If you are not currently working as a general electrician, proof of experience and/or a copy of your Journeyman's card must accompany your bid.
