What We Need
Kymeta is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong experience in embedded systems development and real-time software engineering. This role is ideal for someone who can design, develop, and optimize software that interfaces closely with hardware and operates in performance-critical environments.
You should have deep experience in C/C++, a solid understanding of embedded Linux or RTOS environments, and the ability to contribute across the full software lifecycle-from design through deployment and support.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver antenna control software across Kymeta's multi-band, multi-orbit satellite systems:

  • Control loop design, acquisition, pointing, and tracking algorithm development

  • System-level orchestration from low-level drivers to adaptive logic

  • Integration of AI/ML technologies from the cloud to the edge

  • Build the enabling software infrastructure:

  • Interfaces, data pipelines, finite-state machines, diagnostics, and fault handling

  • Embedded implementations in C/C++ on constrained Linux or real-time platforms

  • Collaborate across hardware, RF, systems, and cloud teams to ensure system cohesion

  • Drive the entire development lifecycle-from simulation to field deployment, with a mindset of hyper-ownership that includes engaging stakeholders early, maintaining alignment throughout development, and validating post-delivery to ensure program success

  • Promote reliability, testability, and long-term maintainability throughout the codebase

  • Active Secret Clearance, or clearance held within the past five years. Experience working in secure, classified environments.

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Strong background in satellite communication systems, wireless technologies, or related domains

  • Track record of implementing complex mathematical models in embedded or real-time systems

  • Practical experience integrating cloud platforms, IoT frameworks, or AI/ML technologies with edge devices

  • Hands-on experience with Extended Kalman Filters (EKFs) and vehicle localization

EDUCATION
  • B.S. Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent knowledge and experience, M.S. preferred
