Job Description

At General Motors, we're redefining mobility through breakthrough hardware, intelligent software, and human-centered vehicle experiences. Our products help make driving safer, smarter, and more connected while shaping the future of transportation.

Global Manufacturing Electrical & Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) is seeking a program manager to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives that support the deployment of SDV and Vehicle as a Tester (VaaT) capabilities across manufacturing.

In this role, you'll connect software and bench readiness, manufacturing processes, IT, validation, and plant integration. You'll turn ambiguity into clear plans, align stakeholders, drive accountability, and escalate risks early to support launch timing and strategic commitments.

What You'll Do
  • Lead integrated SDV/VaaT plans across software, bench, IT, process, and plant readiness workstreams.

  • Manage milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, decisions, and action plans.

  • Align engineering, IT, validation, manufacturing, and plant teams on hardware, software, connectivity, and operational readiness.

  • Lead readiness reviews, governance forums, and status reporting.

  • Maintain a single source of truth for program health, owners, due dates, risks, and open issues.

  • Drive cross-functional resolution of issues involving VaaT deployment, software readiness, offline flashing, connectivity, validation, and manufacturing execution.

  • Translate manufacturing issues into clear problem statements, action plans, and trackable workstreams.

  • Support manufacturing launches and plant integration by aligning readiness criteria, operating plans, and communication.

  • Improve standard planning, reporting, and governance practices as SDV/VaaT expands across programs and plants.

  • Build strong partnerships across software, manufacturing, engineering, and program management.

Required Qualifications
  • Typically five or more years of program, project management, or Scrum experience in automotive, manufacturing, or software-intensive environments.

  • Strong risk, issue, and change management skills.

  • Experience working with manufacturing plants and understanding how test environments and software changes affect production operations.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to translate technical details into clear plans and status.

  • High ownership, learning agility, and comfort working in an evolving SDV/VaaT environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with SDV, connected vehicle systems, or embedded software development and validation.

  • Experience coordinating hardware, software, and testing activities across multiple locations and stakeholder groups.

  • Knowledge of software development, GM release strategy, and tooling or software buyoff.

  • Experience with Vehicle as a Tester concepts, test benches, or in-plant test systems.

  • Experience supporting manufacturing launches or software and electronics integration events.

  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar program management tools.

  • Familiarity with Agile, Scaled Agile, and modern software delivery practices.

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
