Job description

Youth and Government Mission

We provide middle and high school students with an experiential leadership learning and development program by modeling United Nations and California’s legislature and courts. Our Y&G prides itself in providing quality educational and civic engagement programming that offer our student “delegates” with the following skills to help them transition and succeed with ease from high school through college graduation:

  • Public speaking
  • Research and writing skills
  • Core values and teamwork
  • Study skills
  • Critical thinking skills

Your Leadership Responsibilities:

  1. Recruit, train, and supervise 30-40 program advisors (volunteers) necessary to run the Youth and Government program.
  2. Plan and execute program activities for Youth and Government.
  3. Develop program objectives and review, evaluate, and revise objectives as needed.
  4. Assist in the development of training curriculum for Y and G volunteers.
  5. Actively engage and develop relationships with all teen program participants in Teen Center.
  6. Attend appropriate trainings to enhance personal development potential.
  7. Maintain accurate records of Youth and Government program participants.
  8. Develop and run the Model UN program.
  9. Aid in developing and managing the budget for Youth and Government program.
  10. Work with all YMCA collaborative partners to ensure positive and consistent relationships as well as referrals to leveraged services.
  11. Actively participate in YMCA events and activities and adhere to the YMCA Core Values.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

  • 3 or more years of experience with youth development and programming
  • 2 or more years of experience in staff/volunteer and program management
  • Ability to clear DOJ/FBI background checks
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification within 30 days of hire

  • Ability to travel to sites and meetings consistently (reliable transportation)
  • Proficiency in computer and database programs necessary to perform the duties of the job (Google Drive, AirTable, Zoom, etc
