As a Senior Lead Counsel in our Legal Investigations team’s Government Response team, you will have a leadership role in evaluating enterprise-level risk arising from government-facing matters and designing and implementing Company responses to government scrutiny and requests. You will represent the Company in its most significant enforcement actions, regularly interfacing with government agencies and outside counsel. You will provide legal and strategic advice and updates to Company leadership regarding the Company’s interactions with regulatory and law enforcement agencies, provide guidance and support on accountability and remediation matters, and proactively identify and advise on new and emerging areas of risk.   What you'll do...
  • Identify, prioritize, and manage risks to the Company, including by engaging and supervising outside counsel and collaborating with internal clients to develop mitigation strategies 
  • Provide legal advice to the Company by identifying and explaining key risks and positioning Company leadership to make informed decisions 
  • Collaborate with senior Company executives to respond to significant risks
  • Partner with Compliance and Business Units to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to encourage and continue early and proactive engagement of in-house counsel 
What you’ll bring…
  • Law degree from an accredited law school and 7 years’ experience in law.
  • License to practice law in at least one state.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Relevant government enforcement experience, e.g., proven success as a federal or state prosecutor managing criminal and/or civil litigation.
  • Substantial and diverse investigations experience, e.g., at a regulatory or enforcement agency or in private legal practice  
  • Experience leveraging technology to streamline processes, communication and workflows  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with fast-paced, deadline-driven projects and assignments
  • Proven track record of risk identification, assessment, and mitigation 
  • Management/supervision experience, including experience empowering others to operate with autonomy while adhering to the type of standards that have come to define the Walmart brand.
