Job description

Job Summary Under general supervision of the District Attorney or his/her designee, performs a wide range of legal secretarial and administrative duties in the District Attorney's Office; provides word processing and data entry support; provides general information and assistance to county staff and the public. Distinguishing Characteristics This is a journey level position in the Legal Assistant series. This class is distinguished from the Legal Assistant I by the assignment of a wider range of duties within the District Attorney's office.

Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. This class is considered generally knowledgeable of the policies and procedures of basic legal assistant duties; however, the incumbent may exercise limited technical and functional authority and may work under general direction and guidance of the District Attorney or his/her designee. Licensing, Education, & Other Requirements Any combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities.

A typical way to gain the required knowledge and ability is: High school diploma or equivalent education; and Three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative support experience, preferably in a government agency or law office performing work related to civil and/or criminal law.; and A combination of relevant education and experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position may be considered. 2. Completion of recognized legal courses or paralegal training program may be preferred

3. Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada Class C Driver License. 4.

Must successfully pass a criminal background investigation. 5. Military experience applicable to the duties of the position may be preferred.
