Job Summary:

GDI Ainsworth is currently looking for Journeyman Sheet Metal Apprentices (3rd, 4th or 5th Year Apprentice) to join our growing project team. This role is ideal for an individual looking to advance their career in a professional, safety-focused, and supportive environment. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced journeypersons and project team members on commercial, industrial and institutional projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation of Mechanical related equipment and components.
  • Perform sheet metal installations, repairs, and system modifications in accordance with drawings and specifications
  • Support commissioning and start-up activities
  • Work on complex Mechanical projects throughout the GTA and surrounding areas
  • Maintain accurate work documentation and reports
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, teammates, contractors, consultants, and clients
  • Represent the company professionally on all job sites
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by and in accordance with all applicable Health, Safety, Environmental company policies, Government legislation/regulations and union requirements.
  • Contribute to the ongoing training and mentoring of indentured apprentices.
  • Adhere to the Company’s Quality System operating procedures.
  • Read blueprints, specifications, determine layouts and material take offs for mechanical systems
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Qualifications:

  • Registered 3rd, 4th or 5th Year Sheetmetal Apprentice (308A required)
  • Member in good standing with UA Local 30
  • Gas Technician License (preferred)
  • Must have experience with the installation of Ductwork, venting & appliance installations
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent work ethic with a strong commitment to safety
  • Understanding of Mechanical Installation and repairs.
  • Valid Ontario Drivers License with a clean driving record.
  • Excellent Math and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to maintain RCMP, Public Works Reliable clearance status
  • Must be able to lift heavy materials, tools and equipment when required
  • Up to date knowledge of local plumbing codes
  • Strong Verbal Communication, Stress- and Time-Management Skills

The pay range is $28.24 to $39.48 per hour. The compensation for this position is as per the collective agreement.
