Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking candidates for our NDI training and apprenticeship program.
The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Mission Assurance organization working in a collaborative environment while promoting a positive and proactive teamwork environment. This Position will be located in Palmdale, CA with potential overseas travel for a Non-Destructive Test Technician level 1.
Primary focus is to train for in-field Non-destructive Inspection of aircraft. Candidates will learn the skills for the inspection of composite aerospace components, and other energetic and non-energetic articles. This position is responsible for following unique nondestructive inspection techniques, methods, and procedures. Works with design, project and quality engineers through the training process to select and implement the best NDT method to ensure product quality at lowest cost.
Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must successfully complete NDI Training Program Provided by Northrop Grumman through American Aerospace Technical Academy (AATA)
  • An Active, or In-scope, Government Secret Security Clearance with the last investigation occurring within the last five (5) years as well as the ability to obtain and maintain Program Special Access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
  • Valid US Passport or ability to obtain
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Ability to successfully pass vision screen and color blindness tests
  • Ability to pass General, Specific, and Practical exams within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company
  • Able to be subject to areas which could cause various phobias due to height or close spaces.
  • Able to lift up to approximately 35 pounds. May occasionally lift 50 pounds (with assistance)
  • Must be willing to work any shift, overtime or non-standard work schedule

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in Aircraft Inspection
  • Knowledge of Nonconforming Material (NCM) control system and governing procedures and documentation
  • Relevant past experience in the NDT field

Primary Level Salary Range: $45,800.00 - $76,400.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
