Excel Preparatory Preschool Academy, Inc., an exciting new STEAM Preschool is looking for great teachers. Our teachers are passionate about the intellectual and emotional development of children, and we are currently in search of an equally passionate and enthusiastic Lead Teacher to join our childcare team. The Lead Teacher will be responsible for maintaining a positive and appropriate educational environment and creating a program that meets the intellectual and emotional needs of all of our children. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of School to ensure our program provides education, physical health, emotional well-being, and parental involvement services to all enrolled scholars.
DUTIES:
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of each scholar by responding to their academic, cognitive, social-emotional, and physical needs. 
  • Utilize developmentally appropriate practice and best practice methods at all times.
  • Be a positive role model for all caregiving staff and scholars.
  • Be customer service orientated and professional.
  • Provide excellent customer service according to the standards of Excel Prep.
  • Engage scholars in activities and play that stimulates their development.
  • Appropriately supervise scholars while keeping them safe at all times.
  • Establish a professional level of rapport with each family in order to provide quality care and friendly service.
  • Create and maintain an environment that is clean, organized, and safe for all children.
  • Supervise Assistant Teachers in the classroom and ensure they are following program policy and customer service expectations.
  • Mentor Assistant Teachers in the classroom and direct them as to what duties need to be carried out throughout the day.
  • Plan daily activities that are developmentally appropriate for young children, complying with Creative Curriculum® .
  • Implement the Creative Curriculum® in a highly effective and impactive manner.
  • Conduct child assessments and facilitate parent-teacher conferences.
  • Attend and engage in occasional parent participation events and other events that may be on nights and/or weekends.
  • Prepare monthly parent newsletters and weekly lesson plans according to policy.
  • Be responsible for daily sheets and the daily activities pertaining to all scholars.
  • Maintain a professional self-image and project the values of the organization at all times.
  • Comply with AdvancEd Accreditation Standards.
  • Comply with professional development requirements.
  • Perform any other duties as required by Administration.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
  • CDA or Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field.
  • 2+ years’ experience in a teaching capacity and lesson planning.
  • Passionate about the development and well-being of children.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

(Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field preferred)
