Senior Application Developer (MERN/ GCP/ Technical Lead)

We're seeking a Senior Application Developer who combines strong hands-on engineering skills with technical leadership, project ownership, and a passion for building modern cloud-native applications.

This role focuses on the TypeScript-based MERN stack and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) while helping evolve our broader technology ecosystem.

Development & Architecture
  • Design, build, and support scalable applications using MongoDB, Express.js, React, Node.js (TypeScript), APIs, and GCP.
  • Develop modern web applications, microservices, integrations, and cloud-native solutions deployed via containers to Google Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, and Kubernetes.
  • Lead solution design and contribute to architecture decisions.
  • Drive modernization initiatives that improve scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability.
Technical & Project Leadership
  • Lead technical projects from design through deployment.
  • Coordinate work across developers, product teams, and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate architecture reviews, planning sessions, and technical decision‑making.
  • Identify and resolve technical risks, dependencies, and delivery challenges.
Mentorship & Collaboration
  • Mentor developers through code reviews, coaching, and knowledge sharing.
  • Promote engineering best practices including clean architecture, dependency injection, testing, performance, and code quality.
  • Partner closely with Product, QA, DevOps, Architecture, and business teams.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues using the observability stack (Sentry, OpenTelemetry, structured logging) and drive continuous improvement.
Required
  • 7+ years of software development experience.
  • Proven experience leading software projects and influencing technical direction.
  • Strong, current expertise with TypeScript
  • Strong expertise with:
    • MongoDB (native Node.js driver; Mongoose a plus)

  • Hands‑on experience with:
    • Dependency injection / IoC containers (InversifyJS or similar)
    • Redis-backed job queues (BullMQ or similar) and Google Cloud Tasks / Pub/Sub
    • Auth0 / OIDC / JWT‑based authentication
    • Schema validation with Zod
    • Modern React tooling - Redux Toolkit, React Hook Form/Formik, and Material UI (MUI) or similar.
  • Experience developing and deploying solutions in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Cloud Tasks, Pub/Sub, and Secret Manager.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerized service deployment.
  • Experience building scalable web applications, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
  • Experience mentoring developers and leading technical discussions.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred
  • Experience as a Technical Lead, Lead Developer, or Project Lead.
  • Experience with payments/card processing, PCI-DSS, or client‑side field‑level encryption.
  • Experience with construction software, ERP systems, financial systems, or expense management solutions.
  • Experience building or integrating expense management, AP, invoice processing, procurement, or purchasing applications.
  • Experience with feature flag release management
  • Experience integrating LLMs / generative AI into production applications.
