Google Cloud Platform Platform Engineer
Location: Wayne, Pennsylvania (Hybrid)
Role Overview
Our organization is seeking a skilled and motivated mid-level Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) Engineer. This role focuses on the execution and delivery of Google Cloud Platform infrastructure and platform components. The engineer will partner closely with Security, Operations, Governance, and Application teams to enable safe and efficient consumption of Google Cloud Platform services across the enterprise. This position is expected to work independently on implementation while leveraging senior engineers for higher-level architectural decisions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Architect, design, build, and support enterprise Google Cloud Platform platform capabilities, including landing zones, organizations, projects, networking, and shared services.
  • Build and maintain Google Cloud Platform infrastructure under established architecture using Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Provision and support native Google Cloud Platform services and build scalable, secure, and reusable platform patterns.
  • Automate cloud infrastructure provisioning and integrate cloud services into automated delivery workflows.
  • Implement and maintain IAM, policy enforcement, firewall rules, and network security controls.
  • Manage, monitor, and operate Google Cloud Platform environments, providing advanced production support and incident response.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers, follow platform standards, and support ongoing platform enhancements.
  • Partner with application teams to onboard workloads following approved platform patterns.
Required Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in cloud or infrastructure engineering roles. Must have infrastructure-focused Google Cloud Platform experience (platform vs. application development).
Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) core services, Terraform / Infrastructure-as-Code, and exposure to CI/CD supporting infrastructure deployments. A solid understanding of networking, security, and operating systems is required.
Professional Skills: Ability to work independently while escalating complex design decisions. Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills are necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing or operating enterprise cloud landing zones.
  • Multi-cloud experience (Azure and/or AWS).
  • Experience with Kubernetes and container platforms (GKE preferred).
  • Experience supporting regulated or security-sensitive environments.
  • Google Cloud Platform certifications (Associate or Professional).
