Job description

Position title: Digital Engagement Strategist III

Location: Arlington, Virginia

Clearance required: SECRET

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Digital Strategy: Align all digital engagement activities with the organization's broader mission to inform, educate, and inspire.
  • Content Creation & Management: Create and share compelling, relevant, and educational content to foster a vibrant online community.
  • Social Media Management: Be proficient in the use of, and actively manage, social media platforms including X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and other emerging social media platforms as deemed necessary by ONR.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Utilize data analytics to measure performance, understand audience behavior, and provide actionable insights to refine digital strategies.
  • Website Traffic: Develop and implement strategies to increase traffic to the organization's primary website and other digital properties.
  • Brand Awareness: Elevate the organization's profile as a leader in science and technology.
  • A bachelor's degree from a fully accredited institution in a field of study (such as communications or journalism) and must have at least ten (10) years of experience as a communicator or writer in support of various unique, specialized organizational goals.
    • The requirement for a bachelor's degree may be waived if the Digital Engagement Strategist III has at least fifteen (15) years of experience as a communicator or writer in support of various unique, specialized organizational goals.
  • A screenshot sample of previously published material in support of a past social media campaign, which shall be attached to resume.
  • Must be thoroughly familiar and proficient in the use of commercial software packages such as Adobe InDesign Suite.
  • A working knowledge of video streaming is required.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Site Corp Content Management System or similar content management software, Web Management software, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and various metadata management.
  • Working level knowledge of video streaming is required.
  • Must have expert understanding, and extensive hands-on experience with account creation, manipulation, execution and leading information and influencer campaigns on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Flickr, and other emerging forms of digital and social media.
  • Must have excellent professional writing skills and verbal communications skills.
  • Demonstrate competence representing organizations of departmental, national and international interests via multimedia and face-to-face venues, such as print, broadcast and exhibit formats.
  • Ability to convey meaningful messages related to the organizational mission of scientific research, technology discovery and invention that leads to transition of the acquisition community.
  • Must have knowledge and experience with digital support of national and international events.
  • Ability to effectively write for online applications.
  • Some travel will be required in support of ONR events.
