MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience leading enterprise application portfolios and associated technologies: VMWare, Openshift, Kubernetes etc.
  • Experience designing cloud enterprise solutions and supporting customer projects to completion.
  • Experience coding in one or more general purpose languages (e.g., Python, Java, Go, C or C++) including data structures, algorithms, and software design.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience refactoring monolithic applications to microservices, APIs, or serverless models.
  • Experience architecting, developing software, or internet scale production-grade cloud solutions in virtualized environments such as Google Cloud Platform or other public clouds.
  • Experience leading application modernization or application architecture projects.
  • Experience with unit or automated testing tools.

We help customers transform and evolve their business through the use of Google's global network, web-scale data centers, and software infrastructure. As part of an innovative team in this rapidly growing business, you will help shape the future of businesses of all sizes and use technology to connect with customers, employees, and partners.

As an Application Modernization Engineer, you will work with customers to transform existing enterprise applications into modern, cloud native applications to reduce time to launch, increase release frequency, reduce time to recovery and failure rate. You will propose and execute, including code development, approaches to modernize Google’s customer’s applications and deploy them to Google Cloud Platform. You will work with customers on application re-design and implementation, including application scaling and reliability. You will also advise on ongoing operations such as application and feature roll-outs, monitoring, and more. Additionally, you will work closely with Product Management and Product Engineering to build and drive excellence in our products.

In this role, you are the Google Engineer working with Google's most strategic Cloud customers. Together with the team you will support customer adoption of Google Cloud products through architecture guidance, best practices, application migration, implementation, troubleshooting, monitoring, and much more.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Be a trusted technical advisor to customers and solve complex software development challenges.
  • Deliver modern software to Google’s customers, including creating and executing enterprise application transformation and migration strategies.
