Job description

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our CI/CD Platform team. This is a high-impact opportunity to help design, build, and support the shared delivery and infrastructure capabilities that enable engineering teams across Realtor.com to build, test, deploy, and operate software quickly, reliably, and securely.

You will contribute to the next generation of our CI/CD platform and cloud-native runtime environment. Your work will include automated delivery workflows, GitOps, AWS EKS, Kubernetes security, service mesh capabilities, and developer-focused tooling. You will partner closely with engineering teams to reduce delivery friction, improve reliability, and help establish practical DevOps standards across the organization.

We believe in leveraging the best tools to solve problems faster. You will be expected to use AI coding assistants and LLMs to accelerate development, generate boilerplate, investigate complex issues, and improve documentation. You will also apply sound judgment to verify AI-generated output for security, performance, reliability, and accuracy.

What you'll do

CI/CD Platform & Delivery Engineering
  • Architect and manage CircleCI pipelines, runner infrastructure, and self-service automation that support secure application delivery.
  • Build and improve shared CI/CD capabilities that help engineering teams deliver software accurately, reliably, and with speed.
  • Deploy GitOps workflows across multiple clusters using ArgoCD to automate application lifecycle management across environments.
  • Partner with engineering teams to provide technical guidance, automated pipelines, reusable templates, and platform tooling.
AWS & Kubernetes Platform Operations
  • Design and manage production-ready AWS EKS infrastructure within resilient multi-region and multi-cluster architectures.
  • Manage container scheduling and cluster scaling using Karpenter and related Kubernetes capabilities.
  • Maintain the health, availability, security, and operational readiness of EKS environments.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues involving Kubernetes workloads, networking, deployments, and distributed systems.
Service Mesh, Security & Reliability
  • Support Istio service mesh implementations that regulate traffic, enable mTLS, and protect communication between microservices.
  • Develop and maintain routing, ingress and egress gateway, circuit-breaking, and canary-release patterns.
  • Enforce Kubernetes security practices using Network Policies, IAM Roles for Service Accounts, and related controls.
  • Incorporate security, resilience, performance, observability, and cost-efficiency into platform initiatives.
  • Mentor engineering teams on DevOps practices and contribute to operational maturity across the organization.
What you'll bring

Experience & Expertise
  • 6+ years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure automation, platform engineering, SRE, or DevOps.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS services, including EKS, EC2, VPC, Route 53, S3, and IAM.
  • 2+ years of experience administering production-grade Amazon EKS and containerized workloads.
  • 1+ year of production experience designing and managing Istio Service Mesh in highly distributed or multi-cluster environments.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and Kubernetes-based platform capabilities.
Technical Skills
  • Cloud and infrastructure: AWS, Amazon EKS, EC2, VPC, Route 53, S3, IAM, Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm.
  • CI/CD and GitOps: CircleCI, ArgoCD, GitOps workflows, runner infrastructure, deployment automation, and release strategies.
  • Kubernetes operations: Karpenter or comparable autoscaling approaches, IRSA, Network Policies, and multi-cluster operations.
  • Service mesh and reliability: Istio or a comparable service mesh, mTLS, traffic routing, canary releases, observability, and distributed-systems troubleshooting.
  • Automation: Terraform or comparable infrastructure-as-code, Python, Go, Bash, and platform scripting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Production experience with CircleCI.
  • Certifications such as CKA, CKS, or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform or GKE.

Professional Qualities

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Collaborative approach working across engineering teams to improve shared systems and delivery practices.

  • Self-motivated and comfortable solving complex platform problems with a high degree of ownership.

  • Pragmatic, systems-oriented mindset with strong judgment around reliability, security, performance, and developer experience.
