AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in the areas of Information Technology, Test & Evaluation, Program Mission Support, Engineering & Analysis, and Training. Responsibilities As a Data Scientist with subject matter expertise in data science, you will provide technical literacy on Department of War technology areas to support the Join Acquisition Protection and Exploitation Cell (JAPEC). You will be tasked with identifying and mitigating threats to critical and emerging technologies vital to U.S. National Security. You will work directly to inform the operations of the DoW and its partners, utilizing advanced data science to prevent national-state adversaries from compromising the national's technological superiority. As a Data Scientist with AMERICAN SYSTEMS, you will have the opportunity to do the following: * Utilize analytical tools, coding capabilities, and data management platforms to improve information distribution and stakeholder communication, ensuring agile and streamlined operational workflows. * Query and collate unclassified information sources, identify trends, and provide data visualization through dashboards * Comfortable working with AI Sub-processor APIs * Contribute to safeguarding the nation's Research & Engineering (R&E) technology ecosystem. Identify, analyze, and mitigate security vulnerabilities across critical and emerging technology domains. * Collaborate across multiple interagency teams, law enforcement, and counterintelligence entities to fortify America's unified approach to safeguarding science and next-generation technological innovations. * Draft comprehensive analytical documents to provide actionable insight for executive risk assessment decisions for the DoW and its interagency partners. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, or related STEM field * Active TS/SCI clearance required. Ability to be on-site for classified work and meetings in College Park, MD. * U.S. Citizenship Required for the purposes of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance.
* 5+ years of relevant experience in data analytics, coding, or related intelligence disciplines supporting DoW or Interagency organizations. * Strong understanding of AI/ML concepts, advanced data architectures, and modern analytic methodologies. * Proficient in R and Python, knowledge of sequel would be idea * Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Word) and familiar with data visualization/management platforms (e.g., PowerBI). * Strong oral and written communication skills; proven ability to translate complex technical/coding concepts into clear intelligence reports for non-technical stakeholders. * Strong team orientation, proactive, highly organized, and detail-oriented. Capable of operating effectively in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment. * Employing spreadsheets for data manipulation and visualization.
