Description:

The IT Systems Engineer is a technical specialist responsible for the execution of tasks within the project lifecycle and the technical onboarding of new clients. Working under the direction of a Project Manager, this individual performs the hands-on configuration, migration, and deployment work required to deliver high-quality IT solutions. This role focuses on technical accuracy, adherence to established standards, and the successful transition of new environments into the managed services portfolio.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Technical Implementation:

Execute assigned project tasks, including the installation and configuration of servers, cloud services, and networking hardware according to project specifications.

Onboarding Support:

Assist in the technical integration of new clients by performing site assessments, deploying monitoring agents, and aligning local environments with company standards.

Cloud Migrations:

Perform the technical migration of user accounts, mailboxes, and data to Microsoft 365 and Azure environments.

Infrastructure Deployment:

Set up and configure firewalls, switches, and wireless access points as part of network refresh or expansion projects.

Knowledge Transfer:

Create thorough technical documentation of completed work to ensure the Support Desk is fully equipped to provide ongoing maintenance.

Troubleshooting:

Resolve technical hurdles encountered during project implementation, escalating complex architectural issues to senior engineering staff when necessary.

Cloud Services:

Proficiency in administering Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, and basic Azure services.

Virtualization:

Experience configuring and maintaining Hyper-V virtual machines or equivalent.

Network Fundamentals:

Solid understanding of VLANs, VPNs, and firewall rules within a business environment.

Physical & Availability Requirements (IT): This role requires the ability to lift and move IT equipment up to 50 lbs (team lifts for heavier items), install and reposition hardware such as servers, network devices, racks, and UPS systems, and work in confined spaces, at heights, or in data center environments. Prolonged standing, kneeling, and repetitive hand and computer-based tasks are required, along with correctable vision sufficient to read system logs, labels, and status indicators. The position involves extended screen time, exposure to noise and temperature-controlled data centers, and occasional travel to remote sites. Participation in an on-call rotation, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours during incidents, maintenance windows, deployments, or disaster recovery events, is required in accordance with operational SLAs. Candidates must communicate technical information clearly, maintain confidentiality, comply with security policies, and meet applicable background, licensing, and work authorization requirements.
