Job description

IT Systems Support Specialist
Location: West Des Moines, IA (On-site)
Company: Trader PhD
Job Type: Full-Time, Salaried
Salary: $65,000-$70,000
Help Build Better Systems, Not Just Fix Problems
At Trader PhD, we believe great IT isn't measured by how many tickets you close - it's measured by how smoothly the business runs because of the systems you build and support. We're looking for an IT Systems Support Specialist who enjoys helping people, solving problems, and finding smarter ways to work. This role combines hands-on technical support with Google Workspace administration, Windows administration, vendor management, and process improvement. You'll support a growing team of 50+ employees while working directly with leadership to improve the technology that powers our business. If you're naturally curious, communicate well with people, and enjoy figuring out how things work, we'd love to meet you.
What You'll Do
IT Support & End User Experience
  • Troubleshoot Windows PCs, laptops, printers, monitors, mobile devices, and peripherals
  • Resolve software and hardware issues with minimal disruption to employees
  • Configure and deploy new workstations and technology
  • Provide friendly, professional support to employees across every department

Google Workspace Administration
  • Manage Google Workspace users, groups, shared drives, and permissions
  • Support Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Chat, Meet, and related applications
  • Troubleshoot account access, email delivery, and sharing issues
  • Help maintain a secure and organized Workspace environment

Windows Administration
  • Manage Active Directory users and security groups
  • Create and maintain Windows Group Policy Objects (GPOs)
  • Support workstation policies, permissions, mapped drives, and login issues
  • Assist with endpoint configuration and standardization

Vendor & Systems Management
  • Coordinate with software, telecom, and hardware vendors
  • Track issues through completion and advocate for internal users
  • Maintain documentation and help improve technology processes

Process Improvement & Automation
We value people who improve systems instead of repeating manual work.
Projects may include:
  • Creating a faster way to locate archived call recordings by phone number and date
  • Streamlining employee onboarding and offboarding
  • Automating repetitive administrative tasks
  • Improving workflows between business systems
  • Using scripting or AI tools to eliminate unnecessary manual work

You don't need to be a software developer - but you should enjoy learning new technology and finding better ways to solve problems.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of IT support or systems administration experience
  • Experience supporting Windows business environments
  • Experience administering Google Workspace
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory and Windows Group Policy
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to independently research unfamiliar problems and drive them to resolution

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with any of the following is a plus:
  • Python, PowerShell, or Google Apps Script
  • APIs or software integrations
  • AI tools for troubleshooting or automation
  • Salesforce administration
  • Networking fundamentals
  • SaaS application administration

The Person Who Will Thrive Here
You enjoy helping people and making technology less frustrating. You stay calm under pressure and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical users. You don't stop at fixing the symptom - you want to understand the root cause.
You ask questions like:
  • "Can this process be simplified?"
  • "Is there a better way to do this?"
  • "Can technology eliminate this manual task?"

You're comfortable taking ownership, collaborating with teammates, and continuously learning new skills.

  • Team outings and company events
  • A collaborative, supportive culture
  • Opportunities to learn new technologies and take ownership of meaningful projects
