COMPUTER LAB ASSISTANT P/T

HAROLD WASHINGTON COLLEGE

Primary Objective: The Computer Lab Assistant provides assistance to teachers and students who have tasks to be completed in the Computer Lab. The Assistant ensures the lab maintains an orderly and focused environment conducive to use of computers as tools to complete tasks.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Demonstrate software applications, and keyboarding and computer techniques to students.
  2. Assists teachers by maintaining order and discipline among students, recommending selection of appropriate software for class use, instructing teachers in the use of computers and software, and providing general assistance as needed.
  3. Assist in giving instructions in the use of standard software applications, in context and as required by the teacher.
  4. Maintains computers and peripheral equipment in clean and working condition.
  5. Maintains various records such as weekly class schedules, software and computer check-out records, maintenance records, etc.
  6. Operates computer lab and office equipment such as a computer, printer, and copier; uses various types of software.
  7. Performs other related duties as required.
  8. Adheres to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school graduate or equivalent with Vocational/Technical School training in PC/micro computer system use, and one to two years of experience in a teaching environment coupled with computer use or instruction; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  2. Must be a team player with good communication skills.
  3. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  4. Ability to relate well with students, faculty and staff.
  5. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
