What is a good hourly?

'Good Hourly' refers to jobs that offer competitive hourly wages, fair working conditions, and consistent scheduling. These jobs can be found in various industries such as retail, hospitality, healthcare, and skilled trades. Generally, a 'good hourly' job means that the pay rate is above minimum wage, offers some benefits (like paid time off or healthcare), and provides opportunities for advancement. Shifts may change weekly or require availability during evenings, weekends, or holidays, making it important to communicate scheduling preferences and potential conflicts early on with supervisors. Many workplaces offer shift swapping or flexible scheduling policies, but it's essential to stay proactive and organized to avoid last-minute conflicts. Building good relationships with your team can also make it easier to coordinate coverage when personal commitments arise.

Ryan Mulholland State Farm - Anchorage, AK
Want a job where working harder can actually mean making more money?
We're looking for an outgoing, motivated Insurance Sales Producer to join our State Farm office in Anchorage. This is a full-time position offering competitive hourly pay PLUS generous commissions, paid time off, flexible scheduling, training, and excellent opportunities for growth.
And yes-we actually like to have fun at work.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You'll work with new and existing customers to identify their insurance needs, provide quotes, explain coverage options, follow up with prospects, and help grow our agency.
This IS a sales position. You'll talk to people, build relationships, ask questions, follow up, and ask for the business.
If you hate talking to people, this probably isn't your dream job.
If you enjoy people, like winning, and get a little satisfaction from turning "I'm just shopping around" into "Where do I sign?"...keep reading.
WHAT WE OFFER
  • Competitive hourly pay
  • Generous commission structure
  • Excellent earning potential
  • Paid time off
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Training and ongoing support
  • Fun, positive, team-oriented environment
  • Opportunities for advancement
  • Opportunity to expand into Life, Health, and Financial Services
  • A career where performance is recognized and rewarded

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Our ideal candidate is:

  • Competitive and comfortable with sales
  • Dependable and organized
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • A good problem solver
  • Comfortable juggling multiple priorities
  • Willing to follow up and ask for the sale
  • Positive, energetic, and a good teammate
  • Interested in building a career and increasing their earning potential

LICENSING & EXPERIENCE
A Property & Casualty insurance license is strongly preferred.
Life & Health licenses are also preferred and offer additional opportunities for growth.
Already licensed with insurance or sales experience? GREAT. We definitely want to hear from you.
Not fully licensed yet? Don't automatically count yourself out.
We are willing to help the RIGHT PERSON obtain the necessary licensing and will provide training to help you succeed.
We can teach insurance.
It's much harder to teach work ethic, personality, motivation, and the ability to genuinely connect with people.
WHY JOIN OUR OFFICE?
We're not looking for someone to simply fill a chair.
We want someone who wants to become an important part of our team, make great money, develop professionally, and build a career.
Our office is busy. Phones ring. Customers need help. Weird problems occasionally appear out of nowhere. Some days move FAST.
But that's also what makes it fun.
You'll help people protect their homes, vehicles, families, and futures while building relationships with people in our community.
As you gain experience and additional licensing, there are opportunities to expand beyond Auto and Home insurance into Life, Health, and Financial Services.
The more you learn, grow, and produce, the more opportunity there is to increase your income and responsibilities.
