The Campus Ambassador supports the visitor experience in the museum’s parking lot and other locations on the museum campus, ensuring consistent world class visitor experience throughout the museum grounds. In the parking lot, they assist visitors with using the ParkMobile app, answer questions about museum programs or admission, sell parking passes, tickets, or membership, and maintain the use of the lot for museum visitors or authorized users. This position reports to the Director of Member and Visitor Experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Parking & Traffic Control: Ensuring that museum staff park in designated spaces, and informing visitors of the museum’s parking policies. Specifically:
    • Parking Rates.
    • Eligibility to use the parking lot.
    • Providing temporary day passes to visitors who require them and cannot access the ParkMobile system.
  • Use of the museum’s point of sales system, Altru, to provide supplemental parking fee collection if a visitor struggles with utilizing ParkMobile or has questions about their tickets.
  • Working alongside Security to enforce museum visitor policies and keep the campus safe.
  • Should be prepared to actively engage visitors in the parking lot based on the museum’s schedule of events. This person should be present outside the guard house to answer questions during the morning and during peak traffic times. They should be familiar with current parking policies and the museum’s daily schedule of events.
  • Will coordinate with external parking enforcement providers to ensure they are aware of current Norton events, programs and parking policies for the day prior to beginning patrols.
  • Promoting and being familiar with Museum membership benefits and opportunities; handling associated admission and membership sales, done via credit card, as requested.
  • This position is on duty from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. This position is on duty from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Sundays, and has two shifts on Fridays, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 9:30 PM.

Other duties as assigned, such as supporting museum programs or events in other locations or during different times within the museum.

Qualifications: 

  • Experience working independently and outdoors is a plus.
  • Willing to
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, good judgement, and strong customer service skills.
  • The Campus ambassador should be comfortable using two way radios and Microsoft teams to communicate with fellow museum staff.
  • Altru software experience is preferred but training is provided.
  • Experience working in a retail environment or guest services is a plus.
  • Must be comfortable using a tablet for job duties.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, potentially outdoors.
  • Candidates must be available during the weekends and Friday evenings.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is a plus, but not required.

Hours & Compensation :

  • Variable schedule; Days. Nights, Weekends
  • Part-Time, Non-Exempt
  • Compensation: $18.00/hr

Location Requirements:

At the time of employment, employees are expected to be located within reasonable commuting distance of the museum. Commuting Distance means they are located in South Florida, and able to commute to and from the Museum in a single day.

Physical Requirements:
