Job description

This off-shift Layout Inspector position will be located in our Whitehall Casting Operation. The Layout Inspector will provide accurate dimensional inspections of structural castings to support engineering and manufacturing operations.  Report inspection results per customer and internal requirements.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and Blue Light Scan Machines to support production.
  • Develop and modify inspection programs for equipment.
  • Generate and verify dimensional portion of First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
  • Complete custom inspections (Layout requests) as needed for engineering.
  • Calibrate and service handheld measurement equipment at a basic level.
  • Assist in maintaining tooling and calibration database. 
  • Assist shop floor with machine and handheld measuring equipment as needed.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of two years of consistent post high school work experience; or six months manufacturing experience.
  • Experience interpreting blueprints and inspection requirements through knowledge of GD&T.
  • Operation of basic metrology equipment.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Team oriented attitude.
  • Advanced Math skills in geometry and trigonometry.
  • Programming and/or CAD modeling experience.
  • Experience with CMM inspection using PC-DMIS software.
  • Experience with light scanning using GOM/ATOS software.
  • Experience with hard and handheld gauges, measurement, and calibration.
