Job description

The Assistant Recreation Manager supports the Recreation Center Manager in overseeing all daily operations of the recreation center, including programs, front desk operations, conducting in-service Lifeguard training, and ensuring a quality member/guest experience as outlined in club service standards and Oki Golf Universal Standards. This role plays a key part in ensuring overall membership satisfaction through consistent service delivery, staff development, and cultivating a positive, service-driven culture within the Recreation Center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
Program Development and Operations:
  • Assist in developing, implementing, promoting, and evaluating recreational programs and events for all age groups and abilities.
  • Develop and facilitate regular in-service training programs and emergency drills for lifeguard staff to maintain proficiency in rescue techniques, first aid, CPR/AED, and adherence to American Red Cross standards.
  • Coordinate with swim instructors to enhance swim lessons program and offerings to maximize member appeal and participation.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, safety regulations, and proper documentation of incidents and trainings.

Staff Leadership & Member Experience:
  • Develop, mentor, and support a team that consistently delivers a high level of service to the membership.
  • Actively cultivate and reinforce a service-driven culture aligned with Oki Golf Universal Standards.
  • Support overall membership satisfaction by addressing feedback, resolving service issues, and identifying opportunities to enhance the member experience.
  • Model professional behavior and service expectations for all recreation center staff.

Facility and Administrative Support:
  • Support the management and scheduling of recreation facilities, tennis courts, pool and equipment, ensuring they are maintained in a safe, clean, and operational condition.
  • Assist with budgeting tasks, including monitoring program budgets and ensuring profit/loss accountability in collaboration with the Recreation Manager.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and evaluations of programs and participation.
  • Perform regular testing and maintenance of pool chemical levels to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Conduct routine filter maintenance, including bumping or backwashing as required, to maintain water quality.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • A combination of two years education and experience related to Recreation and Aquatics.
  • Required: Must have updated Lifeguard Instructor Certification, with current Lifeguarding, First Aid/AED Certifications. NOTE: Applicants without a current Lifeguard Instructor Certification will not be considered.
  • Must maintain all required certifications.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with demonstrated knowledge of fundamental and accepted practices in Recreation and Aquatics operations and administrations.
  • Ability to assess goals and strategies and hold staff accountable to ensure successful implementation and completion of goals and objectives.
  • Experience in management, leadership, and the supervision of staff.
  • Current certifications or ability to obtain Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) within 6 months of hire date.
  • Intermediate knowledge of computer skills to include: Microsoft Office programs, web browsers and social media applications.
  • Experience in Customer Service.

COMPENSATION DETAILS:
  • Offered rate of pay range: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
  • Eligible for overtime
