Job Summary:

You are expected to adhere to the company’s mission, vision and value statements. Be knowledgeable of the company’s management systems, policies and initiatives for Quality, Hospitality, Environmental, and Health and Safety. You have specific responsibilities within these areas and are expected to understand them. Grounds Workers, under the supervision of the assistant superintendent, grounds foreman or irrigation technician, are to perform routine and semi-skilled manual labor tasks involved in golf course maintenance. Grounds Workers are expected to operate hand and powered equipment; and occasionally perform work involving large equipment such as tractors, loaders, and mowers. Each Grounds Worker may be assigned responsibilities for the care and maintenance of the golf course and completes related work in a safe and time sensitive manner with regard to maximizing efficiency and quality.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the maintenance of all golf course grounds with great attention to detail.
  • Maintains sand bunkers daily in accordance with training and management expectations
  • Maintains teeing and putting areas daily by setting tee markers and pins; maintaining ball washers; replacing tee towels, flags, and flagsticks as instructed; removing debris from tees, greens, surrounds, and cart paths using blowers or sweepers; filling divots with sand/seed mixture; fixing ball marks and animal damage.
  • Maintains clubhouse grounds and landscapes by mowing, weeding, etc. in a safe, timely, and efficient manner.
  • Operates walk behind reel mowers and other light equipment to maintain closely mowed surfaces.
  • Uses hand tools, string trimmers, rotary mowers, and other equipment in the daily maintenance of golf course features including, but not limited to greens, collars, approaches, tees, trees, fences, ponds, banks, ditches, cart paths, bunkers, and bunker edges.
  • Under the direction of supervisor, Grounds Workers assist in traffic control by moving tees, pins, signs, and cart barriers; replacing, maintaining and adjusting ropes, stakes, and signs; and may mark hazard and drop areas.
  • Cleans and returns all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility; and cleans the maintenance areas at the end of each day.
  • Assists with all opening and closing procedures of the golf course. Including, but not limited to, debris removal, aerification, tree maintenance, bunker maintenance, and installation and removal of animal barriers.
  • Assists with construction and irrigation projects under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent, Grounds Foreman, or Irrigation Technician 
  • Interacts with guests, both internal and external, in accordance with company standards and in a manner that will provide the “Experience of a Lifetime”.
  • Actively participates in protecting the environment by recycling, conserving energy, protecting wildlife and educating guests in accordance with company standards.
  • Works in a safe and healthy manner and promotes safety within the team.
  • Must have knowledge of our Envision Management System which incorporates our commitment to quality, health and safety and the environment.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to follow oral and written directions
  • Physical strength, stamina and agility
  • Previous work experience in landscape or golf course maintenance capacity
  • Working knowledge of and ability to properly use hand tools, power tools, and mowing equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must possess a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
