What is a golf course?

A golf course is a large outdoor area designed for playing the sport of golf. It typically consists of a series of holes, each with a teeing area, fairway, rough, hazards (such as sand bunkers and water), and a green with a flagstick and hole. Golf courses can vary in size and layout but usually have either 9 or 18 holes. They require regular maintenance to keep the grass and landscaping in optimal condition for play.
