Ash Brook Golf Course, located in Scotch Plains NJ, features 7040 yards of golf and a par 72. The course was designed by Alfred Tull and opened in 1953. Ash Brook is a parkland style golf course with tree-lined fairways and large greens. In addition to the 18-hole facility, Ash Brook offers a Pitch & Putt course for players of all ages that has proven to be a family favorite in the community. The Pitch & Putt course features 673 yards of golf for a par of 27. The Tavern at Ash Brook recently renovated and provides a modern scenic view overlooking the golf course with a full bar, grill and patio spaces.

Galloping Hill Golf Course located in Kenilworth New Jersey – is known as “The Home of Public Golf in New Jersey”. Ideally located off the Garden State Parkway in Kenilworth, New Jersey, this 27-hole facility sprawls across 271 acres. Characterized by its natural terrain of rolling hills and valleys, this newly renovated course has a reputation as one of the most challenging courses in the area. The 46,000 square foot clubhouse accommodates banquets of up to 300 guests along with an award-winning restaurant.

The Venues division in Union County consists of Walter E Ulrich Pool featuring a barrier free bathhouse, a 50 meters swimming pool that ranges in depth from 2.5ft to 5.5ft along with a children’s wading pool. In addition, we operate a Wheeler Spray Park with multiple water features and slides along with Warinanco Sports Center featuring a modern café, small and large banquet rooms, pedal boat rental and a state of the art ice rink and turf sports venues.

Founded in 1978, KemperSports is an independent golf, sports venue and hospitality management company based in Northbrook, Illinois. We specialize in property and experience management, providing expertise and turn-key management in all areas of operations from finance and accounting to human resources, to sales and marketing. The KemperSports portfolio features more than 200 facilities across 30 states.

Position Summary:

The Regional Manager will oversee a portfolio of individual business units and will be responsible for leading facility General Managers, Agronomists, Department Heads and their teams to achieve business goals, maximize service levels, and enhance profitability.

The Union County portfolio of properties consists of Galloping Hill Golf Course, Ash Brook Golf Course, Shady Rest Golf Course, Warinanco Sports Center, Wheeler Spray Park and Walter E. Ulrich Pool.

Regional Manager Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develops and maintains active contact with the Client/Contract Administrator in support of ideal relationships, and account retention.
  • Develops and implements facility goals in accordance with the management contract, the Client’s objectives, corporate policy, and good business practice.
  • Prepares and maintains required and necessary reports/records for the Client/Contract Administrator and for the home office.
  • Conducts weekly staff meetings.
  • Directs the development and administers the execution of operating and financial plans; to include operating revenue and expense budgets; capital expense plans and budgets and marketing plans.
  • Understanding and ensuring compliance with all contractual obligations to clients.
  • Accountable for the performance of the properties within their account portfolio.
  • Provide leadership to the operational teams, in support of company objectives, culture, vision, and standards of excellence.
  • Support the personal and professional development of team members.
  • Act as the liaison between the properties and the resources provided by the Home Office including personnel departments, tools and software, vendors, and the document library.
  • Coordinate with sales and marketing to achieve revenue growth for each venue in the portfolio
  • Ensure all safety and compliance standards are met at the highest level.
  • Perform various administrative tasks.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of General Manager experience in the golf and/or hospitality industry.
  • BA/BS degree preferred (concentration in hospitality, finance, business administration and management helpful).
  • Demonstrated experience with financial analysis, forecasting, capital expenses & budget development, variance analysis, operational analysis, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience and/or knowledge of facility management and sports/recreation programming.
  • Personal strengths must include ability to see the big picture, ability to identify the important issues, organization skills, attention to detail, adaptability, ability to effectively balance multiple projects concurrently, problem solving skills, resourcefulness, with the ability to get things done under pressure.
  • Understanding of building management systems and property mechanicals preferred.
  • Demonstrated quality written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills including writing and presenting reports at all levels. Someone approachable, warm, and engaging.
  • A problem solver who likes change and innovation while controlling the big picture. Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends.
  • Positive attitude, professional manner, and appearance in all situations.
  • Respond positively and actively to challenge and pressure, always sure of an ability to handle problems and people.
