Gold Line Head Coach: Job Description
The Coach of the Iona Gold Line Dance Team will teach, oversee, and direct the practices and game day performances of the Team. The coach will work in conjunction with the Director of Spirit Programs and the students of the Gold Line Dance Team to provide an entertaining and premier-level collegiate atmosphere for Iona University's men's and women's basketball home games. Working as a cohesive unit with the Director of Spirit Programs to assist in recruitment of incoming students, and retention of current students, as well as direct management of the Iona Gold Line Dance Team within the philosophy and guidelines set forth by Iona University.
Please note: This is a part time stipend position (no benefits) with a term appointment for the upcoming 2026 to 2027 academic year. The position is renewable annually pending a favorable review.
Primary Duties:
  • Choreograph for and coach the Gold Line Dance Team for all Iona men's and women's basketball home game (approximately 26 games);
  • Ensure the team maintains 10 to 20 members for all men's and women's basketball games with an emphasis on student performers;
  • Actively recruit new members, including high school outreach, campus events, and collaboration with Admissions and Spirit Programs staff;
  • Manage team appearance requests both on-campus and within the community;
  • Assist with enrollment, engagement, and retention initiatives

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Fundraise a designated amount to be budget sustaining;
  • Work with Director of Spirit Programs to hire professionals (if necessary);
  • Assist with individual student member outreach efforts, responding to alerts and recording relevant information in Gaels360.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Experience dancing/coaching/choreographing at a professional and/or collegiate level.
  • Ability to attend all Iona men's and women's basketball home games.
  • Ability to travel to all Iona men's and women's basketball postseason games.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Able to provide leadership and serve as a role model for the team.
