Job description

Covenant Aviation Security (CAS) is seeking an Assistant Manager to support security operations at Orlando International Airport (MCO). Reporting to the Site Manager, the Assistant Manager provides leadership, operational oversight, workforce management, and administrative support to ensure the successful delivery of airport security services in accordance with contract requirements, airport regulations, and company standards.

This position serves as a key member of the airport leadership team and is responsible for supporting a 24/7 operation through employee supervision, training, quality assurance, compliance monitoring, customer service, and operational readiness.

Qualified candidates must have a current State of Florida Class "MB" Security License.

Essential Functions

  • Assist the Site Manager in the day-to-day management and oversight of airport security operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) Post Orders, contractual requirements, airport regulations, and company policies.
  • Monitor security personnel performance to ensure compliance with operational standards and post requirements.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and support to frontline supervisors and security personnel.
  • Assist with workforce scheduling, staffing adjustments, and operational coverage to support a 24/7 operation.
  • Conduct routine field observations and support operational leadership in addressing performance concerns and service delivery issues.
  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, employee development, and performance management activities.
  • Assist in resolving employee concerns, conducting investigations, administering corrective action, and addressing employee relations matters.
  • Maintain employee records, compliance documentation, and operational reports within company systems.
  • Serve as a customer service ambassador and professional representative of Covenant Aviation Security with airport officials, airline personnel, passengers, and other stakeholders.
  • Escalate operational, personnel, compliance, or safety concerns to the Site Manager and Human Resources as appropriate.
  • Respond to emergencies, operational disruptions, and critical incidents as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Security Administration, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in law enforcement, military, aviation security, airport operations, or related security professions.
  • Previous supervisory experience within a security, military, law enforcement, aviation, or related operational environment.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License and ability to successfully complete airport-provided driver training.
  • Current State of Florida Class "MB" Security License.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all required airport credentials and access privileges.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules and support a 24/7 operation.
  • Availability to respond to operational emergencies twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supervising security operations at a 49 CFR Part 1542 regulated airport.
  • Experience managing contract security operations in an aviation environment.
  • Knowledge of airport security regulations, operational procedures, and access control requirements.
  • Experience working with airport authorities, airlines, law enforcement agencies, and other aviation stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and workforce management systems.

Physical Demands

  • May require standing, sitting, walking for various, possibly extended periods of time.
  • May be required to climb inside and bend under vehicles for vehicle inspections (example, construction dump trucks, etc.).

  • Capable of performing normal or emergency duties requiring moderate to arduous physical exertion, such as standing or walking/ patrolling for entire shift(s), climbing stairs, running and self-defense.

Work Environment

Depending upon contract requirements and post locations and assignments, duties may be performed inside or outside with variations of climate control and exposure to elements. Some work requires outside exposure, conducting mobile vehicle patrols, and security at exterior gates, loading docks, and other access points to the Airport Area of Operations (AOA). Temperature fluctuations seasonally vary.
