Responsibilities

Summary:
The Air Officer-in-Charge assists in supervising and training the Air Detention Officers on providing charter aircraft services and is responsible for ensuring the general security and safety of all noncitizen and crew when on-board the aircraft. The security of all areas as required by the appropriate procedures and checklists must be always maintained.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Air Officer-in-Charge assists the Flight Manager in the training on the policies and procedures for the charter aircraft services as it relates to the transportation of noncitizen.
  • Monitors the loading and unloading noncitizen onto and off the aircraft (including those handicapped and/or requiring special assistance) to ensure the care and custody of noncitizen is maintained as per the contract requirements. Reports any problems to management for proper resolution.
  • Responds, investigates, and prepares incident reports.
  • Ensures Air Detention Officers complete all required training.
  • Provides Air Detention Officers guidance to address noted performance deficiencies or issues.
  • Ensures all required checklists are properly complete Performs the duties of the Air Detention Officers as needed.
  • Assists with perimeter security as requested.
  • Reports all violations of order.
  • Gives the alarm in case of disorder or emergency.
  • Reports unusual events that threaten the security of the aircraft or endangers life or property.
  • Takes reasonable counteraction to save life and property or lessen danger.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must meet all of the Air Detention Officers qualifications.
  • Must be a United States citizen residing in the U.S. and able to obtain visas and inoculations required to permit departure from and entry into the US and all scheduled destinations.
  • Must possess a valid United States passport. Ability to set standards and procedures to establish satisfactory levels of performance, quality and productivity.
  • Ability to coordinate the demands of the transportation operations.
  • Effective personnel interaction, communication skills, and problem-solving techniques.
  • Sound and effective leadership skills.
  • Ability to effectively train staff.
  • Ability to write reports, memorandum, policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to be physically alert on any shift that is assigned.
  • Ability to successfully complete all requiring training and certifications.
  • Ability to pass a Company and Federal Client background investigation.
