What is Go programming?

Go programming refers to the use of the Go language, also known as Golang, which is an open-source programming language developed by Google. Go is designed for simplicity, efficiency, and reliability, making it well-suited for building scalable web servers, cloud-based applications, and other high-performance software. Its strong support for concurrency, garbage collection, and easy-to-read syntax have contributed to its popularity among developers. Go is often used in backend development, DevOps, and microservices architectures.

What are some common challenges Go programmers face when working on large-scale projects?

Go programmers working on large-scale projects often encounter challenges such as managing dependencies across multiple modules, ensuring efficient concurrency without introducing race conditions, and maintaining code readability as the codebase grows. Collaboration with other team members is key, as Go encourages code simplicity and clear documentation, making code reviews and shared standards important. Additionally, integrating Go services with existing systems and optimizing performance for production environments can present learning opportunities and growth experiences.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Go programmer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Go Programmer, you need strong proficiency in the Go programming language, a solid understanding of software engineering principles, and typically a degree in computer science or related experience. Familiarity with tools like Git, Docker, and cloud platforms, as well as knowledge of RESTful APIs and concurrency patterns, is highly valuable. Problem-solving ability, effective communication, and teamwork are essential soft skills for collaborating on complex projects and adapting to evolving requirements. These skills and qualities are crucial for building efficient, scalable, and maintainable software solutions in fast-paced development environments.

Are you a precision-driven CMM expert who thrives on technical challenges? Do you enjoy being the go-to authority for quality metrics and advanced dimensional layout?
At Middleville Engineered Solutions, we build high-quality automotive and industrial components that keep the world moving. We are looking for a Senior CMM Programmer to lead our dimensional laboratory, establish robust measurement programs from scratch, and serve as a key technical partner to our engineering and production teams.
Why You'll Love Working Here
  • Excellent Benefits: Robust health, dental, and vision packages, paid time off, and a 401(k) program with company match.
  • Technical Ownership: As a Senior Programmer, you won't just run programs; you will shape our metrology standards, drive critical quality initiatives, and ensure absolute precision across our operations.
  • A Solid Team: Work alongside engineers and production teams who respect your feedback and rely on your data to make critical adjustments.
What You'll Do
  • Write & Optimize Code: Develop, debug, and optimize complex CMM programs from 3D CAD models and detailed blueprints.
  • Interpret GD&T: Serve as the internal subject matter expert on Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure absolute compliance with customer specifications.
  • Support New Product Launches: Collaborate with Engineering during APQP/PPAP phases to design fixture layouts and establish measurement protocols for new programs.
  • Troubleshoot & Root Cause: Partner with Production and Quality Engineers to analyze dimensional discrepancies, solve complex manufacturing issues, and resolve calibration anomalies.
  • Manage the Lab: Maintain calibration schedules, oversee lab organization, and champion best practices in metrology.

Requirements
  • Proven Experience: A minimum of 5+ years of hands-on CMM programming experience in a high-precision manufacturing environment (automotive experience highly preferred).
  • Software Expertise: Advanced proficiency in industry-standard CMM software (such as PC-DMIS, Calypso, or equivalent).
  • GD&T Mastery: Expert-level understanding of ASME Y14.5 dimensioning and tolerancing standards.
  • Technical Literacy: Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD files.
