Go Intern information

What is a Go intern?

Go Interns are students or recent graduates who undertake internships focused on the Go programming language (also known as Golang). Their primary responsibilities usually include assisting in the development, testing, and maintenance of software applications written in Go. They work under the supervision of experienced Go developers and gain practical experience in real-world projects. Go Interns also learn best practices in software engineering, collaborate with teams, and often contribute to open-source or company codebases.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Go intern?

To thrive as a Go Intern, you should have a solid understanding of programming fundamentals, familiarity with the Go language, and coursework or experience in computer science or software engineering. Experience with tools such as Git, basic knowledge of development environments, and exposure to version control systems are typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, eagerness to learn, and effective communication help interns stand out in collaborative settings. These skills are crucial for contributing meaningfully to projects, adapting to new challenges, and growing quickly in a technical team environment.

What types of projects can a Go intern expect to work on, and how are tasks typically assigned?

As a Go Intern, you can expect to work on real-world backend development projects using the Go programming language. Tasks may include writing and testing code for APIs, debugging existing Go services, or contributing to system performance improvements. Assignments are usually given by a senior developer or team lead, with guidance provided through code reviews and regular check-ins. Interns often collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and QA teams, gaining exposure to the entire software development lifecycle while receiving mentorship to support their learning and growth.

What is the difference between Go Intern vs Go Developer?

In summary, a Go Intern is typically a beginner or student gaining initial experience in Go programming, often through internships. A Go Developer, on the other hand, is a more experienced professional responsible for building and maintaining Go applications. Interns usually work under supervision and are in learning phases, while developers have more responsibilities and technical expertise.

Job description

Retail Marketing Intern | Summer 2026
Somerville, MA | 12 weeks | Full-time | $2,500 stipend

Janji makes premium running apparel designed to unlock greater distances for the endurance athlete and enthusiast. Our retail business is growing and we’re looking for a Retail Marketing Intern to jump in during a busy time of the year. You'll be working under our Global Wholesale & Key Account Manager, sitting right at the overlap of sales, marketing, and ops.

What you'll work on:

  • System integrity: keeping backend data clean, accurate, and trustworthy.
  • Event strategy and support, including collateral prep and trade show follow-up.
  • Asset preparation and delivery for key retail partners ahead of seasonal product launches.
  • Training materials and resource prep for retail partner staff.
  • Email campaigns driving pre-book and sell-in revenue across specialty accounts.
  • Reporting dashboards that track pre-book revenue progress and pipeline health.

What we're looking for:

  • Someone genuinely excited to build a career in the running and outdoor industry.
  • A natural storyteller, comfortable meeting with external-facing partners and effectively communicating brand and product information.
  • Someone who has a pulse on the culture of running and the brands, fashion, and trends in the industry.
  • Someone who is good with moving pieces and shifting priorities. No two weeks will look the same.
  • Someone who is detail-oriented and organized, comfortable bouncing between various tools and spreadsheets.
  • Retail experience is a huge plus.

What you’ll gain:

  • This is a perfect opportunity for someone who wants real experience in sales, retail marketing, and go-to-market execution at a growing brand.
  • Templates, resources, and systems you create will directly contribute to revenue growth and delivery.
  • Cross-functional collaboration opportunities to learn about each phase of the business.

Mostly, we want someone who takes initiative. You'll have real ownership here, and your impact will be measurable. Sounds like a good fit? We'd love to talk.
