The Materials Planning Manageris responsible for leading the end-to-end materials planning function to ensure the efficient flow of materials supporting manufacturing operations. This role drives alignment between Production Control, Procurement, and Production Scheduling to ensure material availability while optimizing inventory investment. This role plays a critical part in improving supply chain performance, minimizing material shortages, reducing excess inventory, and enhancing operational efficiency across the organization.

Role and Responsibilities:

Strategic Materials Planning

  • Lead the development and execution of material planning strategies that support SIOP plans and production schedules.

  • Oversee the performance and accuracy of the MRP planning system, ensuring data integrity and effective planning parameters.

  • Improve MRP signals, item master attributes, safety stock policies, and order parameters to enhance planning accuracy.

  • Streamline purchase order generation signals to improve planning automation and system driven decision making.

  • Take proactive action to mitigate material shortages and supply risks.

  • Create and manage material dashboards, ensuring timely material availability.

Inventory Strategy and Optimization

  • Establish and maintain optimal inventory levels to reduce costs while preventing stockouts, balancing supply with demand.

  • Develop strategies to reduce excess and obsolete inventory while maintaining supply continuity.

  • Drive improvements in inventory turns, inventory accuracy, and overall inventory health.

  • Ensure on hand inventory quantities align with square set requirements to reduce waste while meeting business needs.

Cross-Functional Leadership:

  • Partner with MRP Control, Production Control, Procurement and Scheduling teams to ensure accurate demand signals and efficient material flow.

  • Collaborate with operations leadership to support business growth and operational scalability.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of material planners to drive high performance and accountability.

  • Establish team KPIs aligned with organizational supply chain goals.

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and operational excellence.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business or related field.

  • 5-7 years of experience in materials planning, production scheduling, or supply chain related in a manufacturing environment.

  • 3-5 years of leadership experience managing planning or supply chain teams.

  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills required.
