Position Overview:
The Director of Purchasing for the North America Engine Group will focus on supporting the Engine Business Group in achieving financial and operational objectives. This will be achieved by overseeing the Sourcing cycle (Category Assessment, Supplier Base Development, Pricing Negotiations, Project Implementations, Contract Management, and Supplier Relationship Management). The position will be responsible for our 3 Indiana-based engine plants as well as the commodities and U.S. Outside Service Providers, Paint & Chemicals, Stamping, Powdered Metal, and Metal Spinning across North America.
Primary Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Conceptualizes and develops strategies for the assigned portfolio of Commodities
  • Leads the Engine Business Unit in the conceptualization and execution of sourcing projects through project management methodologies
  • Tracks business intelligence information at the Commodity level for decision-making on sourcing projects
  • Coordination of commodity roadmaps to support proper rationalization of the supply base, single-source risk, BCC, and growth strategies within their region and globally
  • SKU Management within their region, working with the global purchasing and supply chain Director, operations, sales, and engineering
  • Oversees the allocation of interdepartmental resources to execute Sourcing projects
  • Leads negotiation efforts on assigned commodities for North America suppliers
  • Management of new supplier adds
  • Regional supply base management as measured through the appropriate metrics and priorities
  • Oversee the Supplier Relationship Management process with a focus on mediating any opportunities in the level of service, on-time delivery, and quality


Required Education & Experience:

  • At least 5 years of relevant to Supply Chain experience in metal mechanic manufacturing environments in management positions (required)
  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) and Master’s Degree are preferable
  • APICS® certification is preferable
  • Experience and business knowledge of metal mechanic manufacturing is preferable
  • Experience and business knowledge of the Automotive industry is preferable
