Vice President, Infrastructure & Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)

Location: Houston, TX or Tampa, FL (Hybrid) or Remote

Salary Range: $200,000 - $240,000

Reports To: Chief Information Officer (CIO)

Role Overview

As the VP of Infrastructure & CISO, you will serve as a dual‑hatted, high‑impact executive responsible for designing, securing, and modernizing DCI’s global technology backbone. This is a hands‑on and strategic leadership role designed for a forward‑thinking technologist who can manage day‑to‑day global engineering while steering DCI into the AI‑driven world. You will bridge the gap between traditional infrastructure excellence and cutting‑edge digital transformation, ensuring our global network is highly resilient, infinitely scalable, and robustly protected against emerging threat vectors.

Position Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership & AI Progression

  • As a core member of the IT Leadership Team, develop and implement a comprehensive infrastructure and information security strategy aligned with DCI's business goals.
  • Actively participate in technology strategic planning, applying a future‑focused vision to enable DCI’s growth. Architect infrastructure and security frameworks that support data pipelines, cloud environments, and the deployment of AI/ML models.
  • Partner with business leaders to integrate secure infrastructure and AI‑driven automation measures into all aspects of the organization, from planning to execution.

2. Global Infrastructure Engineering & Operations

  • Oversee global infrastructure operations across 160+ locations, encompassing cloud topology (AWS/Azure), hybrid datacenters, SD‑WAN networking, compute, storage, and unified communications.
  • Direct the modernization of legacy environments into highly agile, automated, “Infrastructure as Code” (IaC) environments optimized for modern applications.
  • Set, monitor, and enforce engineering standards across application, infrastructure, and data architectures.
  • Ensure peak performance, high availability, and structural scalability of critical operational technologies supporting our global depot footprint.

3. Information Security, Governance & Risk Management

  • Direct the development, recommendation, and championing of IT policies, standards, and procedures for information security, disaster recovery (DR), and business continuity (BC). Oversee and regularly test the global IT DR/BC program.
  • Lead architecture and engineering, vulnerability management, security operations (SOC), compliance, identity and access management (IAM), and risk management.
  • Ensure consistent compliance with all applicable global regulations, standards, and controls (e.g., PCI, NIST, GDPR, data privacy, vulnerability scanning, and encryption), collaborating closely with Enterprise Risk Management.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and penetration tests to identify technical risks; develop and execute rapid mitigating actions.
  • Oversee threat intelligence and the global Security Operations Center to ensure top‑tier intrusion detection, incident response, and threat management.
  • Champion an internal culture of security and technology excellence; lead educational efforts to protect DCI assets from physical and digital threats.
  • Leverage strong financial acumen to develop multi‑million dollar capital (CAPEX) and operational (OPEX) budgets, forecasts, and investment guardrails.
  • The ability to translate deeply technical cyber risks into clear, financial, operational impacts to protect the balance sheet.
  • Attract, mentor, and challenge a world‑class, cross‑functional global infrastructure and security team. Ensure internal staff and 3rd‑party partners are optimized to handle enterprise demands.
  • Manage vendor relationships and partnerships, leading product/service selection, contracting, and ongoing performance management alongside DCI’s procurement function.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Advanced degree (Master’s/MBA) is strongly preferred.
  • Leadership Experience: Minimum of 15 years of progressive IT experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role combining both Infrastructure and Information Security oversight. International experience a plus.
  • Calm Under Fire: The ability to project absolute composure, which stabilizes the technical teams working the incident and reassures nervous executives.
  • Translating 'Geek to Greek': The unique ability to explain a highly complex technical vulnerability to a non‑technical Board member or leadership team using simple, non‑alarmist analogies.
  • Hands‑on & Strategic Balance: Proven track record of operating at a high strategic level with the ability to “roll up your sleeves” to troubleshoot complex architectural issues, infrastructure outages, or urgent security incidents alongside engineers.
  • Modern Tech & AI Aptitude: Demonstrated experience optimizing enterprise infrastructure for high‑density workloads, data analytics, and AI/automation initiatives. Strong grasp of cloud‑native ecosystems.
  • Industry Experience: Experience managing massive distributed footprints (e.g., 100+ locations in supply chain, logistics, retail, manufacturing, or global industrial services environments).
  • Technical Frameworks & Certifications: Deep knowledge of framework standards (e.g., NIST, PCI‑DSS, ISO 27001, GDPR). Highly desirable certifications include CISSP, CISM, CCIE, or equivalent enterprise‑level cloud/architecture credentials.
  • Communication & Influence: Excellent interpersonal skills with extensive experience communicating risk, technology roadmaps, and business justifications to the C‑suite, Board, and field operations.
  • Change Management: Proven capability as a change agent, winning hearts and minds while driving large‑scale IT transformations and enterprise‑wide data/cloud infrastructure migrations.
  • Global Regulatory, Compliance Expertise & Incident Response: Data privacy frameworks. Extensive knowledge of GDPR (Europe) and emerging regional privacy frameworks like the EU AI Act. Proven experience managing multi‑jurisdictional containment, forensic, and PR strategies during a major, systemic breach.
  • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) with generous employer match
  • Paid time off
  • 10 Paid holidays
