Job description

The Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, engaging with guests in a friendly and professional manner, and maintaining a clean, well-stocked, and organized bar. This role requires a strong knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits to make recommendations to customers. It also requires strong customer service skills and attention to detail to ensure an exceptional guest experience.
  • Greet guests warmly and take drink and food orders in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and serve cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages according to standard recipes and guest preferences.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of food and beverage menus to provide recommendations and upsell premium products when appropriate.
  • Ensure responsible alcohol service, monitoring guest consumption and follow all local laws and hotel policies.
  • Handle guest concerns or complaints with professionalism and resolve issues quickly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar, including counters, sinks, shelves, and glassware.
  • Restock liquor, beer, wine, garnishes, mixers, and supplies throughout the shift.
  • Properly handle cash, credit card transactions, and POS system functions.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties, including inventory counts and end-of-shift reports.
  • Work collaboratively with servers, barbacks, and food & beverage team members to ensure smooth service
  • Change kegs, replace CO2 tanks, and ensure beverages are served properly.
  • Prepare garnishes (cutting fruit, stocking condiments) before and during service.
  • Replenish ice bins, keep them clean and sanitary.
  • Collect empty glasses, bottles, and trash from bar and surrounding areas.
  • Clean and polish glassware, utensils, and bar tools.
  • Follow all sanitation and safety guidelines.
  • Report any maintenance issues or damaged equipment.
  • Maintain professionalism with coworkers and guests.?

Based on the F&B department structure at some hotels other duties may include:
  • Preparation of hot or cold food items
  • Knowledge of bar food items
  • Preparation and clean-up/sanitization of kitchen food prep areas.

Requirements
Requirements:
  • Previous bartending experience required.
  • Ability to obtain alcohol beverage and/or food service certifications as required by local ordinance.
  • Strong knowledge of spirits, beer and wine, and responsible alcohol service required.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
  • Professional appearance and positive attitude
  • Ability and willingness to work a varied and flexible schedule including weekends, days, nights, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must tolerate prolonged periods of standing, walking; occasional kneeling, bending, and stooping.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed, push up to 75 pounds as needed.
  • Must tolerate exposure to cleaning solutions.
