The Machine Operator 2 in the Cutting Department is primarily responsible for operating cutting and washing equipment to accurately process glass products according to customer specifications and production requirements. This role is ideal for an individual with manufacturing experience, strong attention to detail, good mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.
First Shift Schedule: 5:00am to 1:00pm with OT as needed
Starting Pay: $22.50 per hour
Job Responsibilities Include:
• Operate and monitor the Bilco compact storage system and washer to safely retrieve, stage, and process glass for production
• Operate the Hegla cutting table and Remaster optimization system to ensure accurate glass cutting in accordance with work orders and specifications
• Operate the KSR washer to ensure glass is properly cleaned and prepared for downstream processing
• Review production schedules, work orders, and cut optimization plans to ensure accurate processing of customer orders
• Inspect glass throughout the cutting and washing processes to identify defects, damage, or quality concerns
• Perform machine setup, adjustments, and changeovers as required to support production demands
• Monitor equipment performance and troubleshoot minor operational issues to minimize downtime
• Safely handle and move glass products using appropriate material handling equipment and established procedures
• Accurately measure and verify glass dimensions to ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality standards
• Maintain production records and complete required documentation related to quality, scrap, and production output
• Assist with inventory control activities, including material verification and glass stock management
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with housekeeping and safety standards
• Report equipment malfunctions, quality concerns, and safety issues to department leadership in a timely manner
• Support preventative maintenance activities and equipment inspections as required
• Work closely with team members and supervisors to meet daily production, quality, and efficiency goals
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and quality standards
• Assist in other production areas and perform additional duties as assigned to support overall plant operations
What We're Looking For
• Previous manufacturing experience preferred, preferably within a glass manufacturing environment
• Experience operating automated production equipment or CNC-controlled machinery preferred
• Ability to read and comprehend work instructions, production schedules, specifications, and quality requirements
• Ability to perform basic math calculations and accurately use measuring devices, including tape measures and calipers
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality products
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues
• Ability to safely work around glass products, moving equipment, and automated machinery
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Punctual with excellent attendance and dependability
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and flexible schedules as business needs require
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience operating Bilco storage systems, Hegla cutting equipment, Remaster optimization software, or glass washing equipment
• Previous experience in glass cutting, fabrication, or manufacturing operations
• Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred
• Knowledge of glass quality standards and inspection procedures
• Experience working in a production-driven environment with safety, quality, and productivity expectations
