Make Your Own Glass Associate - Cold Work

Location: Corning, NY (Onsite)
Pay Range: $16.75-$17.05 per hour

As a Make Your Own Glass Associate - Cold Work, you'll guide visitors through hands-on glassmaking experiences, support studio operations, and contribute to a welcoming, educational environment where creativity thrives.
Whether assisting first-time makers, supporting special events, or preparing finished pieces for pickup, you'll play an important role in bringing the art of glassmaking to life for thousands of visitors each year.
What You'll Do
Create Exceptional Glassmaking Experiences

• Guide individuals and groups through hands-on glassmaking activities, including sandblasting, engraving, fused glass projects, and other creative experiences.
• Teach or assist with a variety of Make Your Own Glass programs and workshops.
• Support public programs, social events, and special activities hosted by The Studio.
• Help foster an engaging, inclusive, and educational environment for guests of all ages and skill levels.

Support Studio Operations

• Process glass projects from creation through completion, including kiln operation, packaging, labeling, shipping, and pickup preparation.
• Prepare materials and supplies for daily programs and workshops.
• Assist with maintaining studio equipment, workspaces, and production areas.
• Open and close the Make Your Own Glass Workshop as needed.
• Monitor and replenish workshop inventory and supplies.

Promote Safety and Excellence

• Maintain a safe working environment and follow all Museum safety policies and procedures.
• Learn and operate specialized equipment, including sandblasters, engraving lathes, belt sanders, and related tools.
• Support new program development and continuous improvement efforts.
• Collaborate with artists, instructors, studio users, guests, donors, and fellow team members to deliver outstanding experiences.

What We're Looking For
Preferred Qualifications

• Customer service experience preferred.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint.
• Experience in arts, education, hospitality, retail, or hands-on technical environments is a plus.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to distinguish color and adjust focus.
The employee is frequently required to move/transport up to 30 pounds.
The employee is infrequently required to move/transport up to 50 pounds.
The work environment is regularly indoors and climate controlled. The work environment is occasionally indoors not climate controlled, wet, humid, work near moving mechanical parts, work in high precarious places, odors, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
