The Opportunity - GIS/Data Management Manager

Salary - $75,000 - $100,000

Terrapex is seeking an experienced Manager, GIS & Data Management to lead our GIS, CAD, and Data Management team. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the collection, management, analysis, presentation, and quality of spatial and technical project data in support of environmental, geotechnical, and hydrogeological consulting services across Ontario.


Position Highlights:

  • Lead and mentor a team of GIS and Data Management Specialists
  • Manage and enhance digital data collection, storage, and presentation systems
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary technical teams across the organization

What You'll Do

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and technical oversight to the GIS & Data Management team.
  • Establish, maintain, and improve procedures, standards, templates, and tools related to GIS, CAD, and project data management.
  • Develop and manage databases, applications, and digital systems supporting data analysis, reporting, and presentation, including Datanest and TabLogs platforms.
  • Oversee GIS hardware, software, licensing, upgrades, and maintenance programs.
  • Manage workload distribution, project priorities, resource allocation, budgets, and deliverable timelines for GIS and data management services.
  • Monitor operational efficiency and identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, consistency, and compliance with company standards.
  • Collaborate with technical managers and project teams to support project delivery requirements.
  • Participate in annual budget planning and manage departmental expenditures.
  • Coordinate technical training and professional development opportunities for staff.

What We're Looking For

  • Successful completion of post-secondary education in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Geomatics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in GIS, data management, or a related technical discipline.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience managing technical teams is considered a strong asset.
  • Strong understanding of GIS principles, spatial data collection, processing, management, and visualization.
  • Advanced proficiency with
    ESRI ArcGIS Pro,
    QGIS, AutoCAD, TabLogs, Microsoft Office Suite, Datanest
    • Experience supporting environmental, geotechnical, hydrogeological, or engineering consulting projects is considered an asset.
