Led by the Wealth Management CIO, GIO develops the firm's investment strategy by integrating financial planning, asset allocation, and portfolio construction insights. Serving as an extension of an advisor's practice, GIO provides the tools, research, and intellectual capital to help advisors deepen client engagement, enhance investment performance, scale their businesses, and drive growth across all client segments.
We are seeking a highly motivated Geopolitical Investment Strategist to develop intellectual capital across a wide range of global policy topics. This role will focus on monitoring and analyzing geopolitical, global monetary and fiscal policy developments and assisting in the production of investment-relevant research for Financial Advisors and clients.
This is an in-person role based in Purchase, New York, with some time spent in Manhattan.
Position Summary
Morgan Stanley Wealth Management is seeking a Vice President-level Geopolitical Investment Strategist to join the Global Investment Office's Policy and Geopolitical Strategy team. The role will focus on analyzing global geopolitical developments and translating them into actionable insights for Financial Advisors and clients. This individual will contribute to the firm's thought leadership while supporting both internal partners and external client engagement.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Analyze global geopolitical developments, including international conflicts, elections, trade policy and assess implications for the global economy and financial markets
  • Develop forward-looking geopolitical models and scenarios, translating them into investment-relevant insights across industries and asset classes
  • Conduct in-depth research and author timely research reports, and market commentary for internal and external distribution
  • Participate in client meetings, conference calls, and events, presenting geopolitical perspectives and market implications

Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of experience in geopolitical analysis, macro strategy, public policy, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of global political dynamics and international economics
  • Demonstrated ability to connect geopolitical developments to market outcomes
  • Experience independent authoring of client-facing research and presenting to sophisticated audiences
  • Advanced degree (e.g., MA, MPP, MBA, or equivalent) required
  • SIE, Series 7/66 preferred, or willingness to obtain upon hire

  • Effective communicator with client-facing experience, bilingual

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $140,000 and $205,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs
