Job description


About This Role

The Early Childhood Teacher will be responsible for the supervision and management of the classroom, in accordance with all Gingerbread House and Missouri State Licensing Rules and Regulations. Teachers must understand children’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. You will have consistent support in your role from the operations team, administrative team, and your co-teachers at the Gingerbread House Learning Center.


What You'll Do
  • Create a pleasant, inviting classroom atmosphere in which children feel comfortable and secure.
  • Work as a member of a team to ensure a high standard of quality in all classrooms
  • Ensure that childcare routines are carried out in a manner that is prompt, hygienic, and consistent with Missouri State Licensing Rules and Regulations. This includes diapering, hand washing, sanitation, eating, napping and transitioning between activities.
  • Proactively ensure the safety of children through constant supervision, effective arrangement of space, proper maintenance of equipment, and regular practice of monthly fire drills and other emergency procedures.
  • Maintain a healthy classroom environment – including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.

Requirements
  1. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma
  2. Must have a warm supportive attitude towards children
  3. Willing to complete infant/child CPR and First Aid training
  4. Complete a full background check and pass a health screening
  5. Able to use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels. May also be required to kneel, bend, squat, crawl and take frequent walks
  6. The ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
