The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Miami Health System is seeking Open Rank Faculty members with subspecialty expertise in Gastrointestinal (GI) Pathology. Patient care services are performed at University of Miami Hospital (UMH), Jackson Memorial Hospital (JMH) and affiliated sites, and Sylvester Cancer Comprehensive Center (SCCC) and its satellites. We seek outstanding candidates committed to excellence in clinical service, education, and academic engagement. The GI subspecialty group comprises nationally recognized faculty, including Dr. Elizabeth Montgomery, Dr. Rhonda Yantiss, and Dr. Monica Garcia-Buitrago, among other faculty members. The department fosters a collaborative and academically rich environment, and the spectrum of diseases and their pathological manifestations in the GI and liver specimens are remarkable.
Qualifications
  • M.D., D.O., or equivalent degree
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in:
  • Anatomic Pathology (AP), or
  • Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP)
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Florida
  • Fellowship training in GI Pathology (required)
  • Additional subspecialty expertise in Surgical Pathology is welcome

Clinical and Academic Responsibilities
  • Provide expert diagnostic interpretation in GI and/or Surgical Pathology
  • Perform and interpret intraoperative frozen sections
  • Serve as an independent diagnostic authority impacting patient care and treatment planning
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and disease-site conferences
  • Contribute to call coverage as assigned
  • Engage in departmental quality assurance activities and committee service
  • Support the academic mission through clinical and/or translational research advancing GI disease
